Lesson 08 - The preposition In - On - At
Usos de la preposición In
 1 Se usa “In” para indicar que una cosa está dentro de otra.
   ● The car is in the garage
      El carro está en el garaje
   ● The money is in the safe
      El dinero está en la caja fuerte
   ● The brain is in the head
      El cerebro está en la cabeza
   ● The ink is in the drawer
      La tinta está en el cajón

 2 Se usa “in” con los nombres de países, estados, ciudades, etc.
   ● My sister-in-law lives in Panama
      Mi cuñada vive en Panamá
   ● Your uncle was in California
      Tu tío estuvo en California
   ● I was born in Medellin
      Nací en Medellín

 3 Se usa “in” con años, meses y estaciones.
   ● My cousin died in 1972
      Mi primo murió en 1972
   ● Chrismas is in december
      La navidad es en diciembre
   ● It’s hot in summer
      Hace calor en verano

 4 Se usa “in” con las palabras “evening”, “morning” y “afternoon”.
   ● The twins never leave in the evening
      Los gemelos nunca salen en la noche
   ● My nephew walks in the morning
      Mi sobrino camina en la mañana
   ● Your parent come in the afternoon
      Tu padre viene en la tarde

   Expresiones con In:
   ● In time                                                A tiempo
   ● Once in a while                                 De vez en cuando
●   In spite of                                 A pesar de
  ●   In a hurry                                  De afán
  ●   In cold blood                                       A sangre fría
  ●   In red                                              De rojo
  ●   In pencil                                   A lápiz



Usos de On
1 Se usa “on” con los días de la semana y fechas completas.
  ● My step-father never works on sundays
     Mi padrasto nunca trabaja los domingos
  ● Your fiancee was born on february 29th
     Tu prometida nació un 29 de febrero

2 Se usa “on” con calles y avenidas, cuando de alguna forma sabemos a cuál nos referimos.
  ● That school is on Oriental Avenue
     Esa escuela está en la Avenida Oriental
  ● Your ex-wife lives on this street
     Tú exesposa vive en esta calle

3 Se usa “on” para indicar contacto.
  ● The blackboad is on the wall
     El tablero negro está en la pared
  ● Please, put the ruler on the table
     Por favor, ponga la regla sobre la mesa
  ● They turn on the lights in the evening
     Ellos encienden las luces en la noche

  Expresiones con On:
  ● On time                                       A tiempo (exactamente)
  ● On and on                                     Contínuamente, sin parar
  ● And so on                                     Y así sucesivamente
  ● From now on                                          De ahora en adelante
  ● What’s going on?                              Qué sucede?
  ● On TV                                                En la TV
  ● On foot                                       A pie
  ● On the other hand                             Por otro lado



Usos de At
1 Se usa “at” Cuando se relacionan direcciones exactas y lugares definidos.
  ● My aunt lives at 32-15 45th Avenue
Mi tía vive en la Avenida 32-15 45
  ●   Your grand-parents are at the cafeteria
      Sus abuelos están en la cafetería
  ●   The White House is at 1,600 Pensylvania Avenue North West, Washington DC
      20,500
      La Casa Blanca queda en la Avenida Pensylvania Noreste, en Washington DC

2 Se usa “at” con las palabras “noon”, “night”, “midnight” y “midday”.
  ● My daddy comes at noon
     Mi papi viene al medio día
  ● They work at night
     Ellos trabajan de noche
  ● My mother-in-low will sleep at midnight
     Mi madrasta se dormirá a la media noche

  Expresiones con At:
  ● At first                                               Al principio
  ● At all                                                 En absoluto
  ● At last                                                Por fin, al fin
  ● At least                                        Por lo menos
  ● At once                                         De una
  ● At your service                                 A su servicio
