Lets, start by understanding the typical camera topology
The analog cameras connected via coax cable back to the DVR.
The big challenge is how do we connect the IP camera to the NVR that is typically over 300ft away.
This is where costs, risks and complexity arises – New cabling, power, back-up power and cooling in all the IDF closets to support the introduction of PoE switches, planning and professional services costs.
With many customers, LAN requirements are more costly than the new IP surveillance solution.
It is this barrier that is stopping many customers from gaining the benefits of IP.

At every end point you would have the Eclink that supports the IP end point.
The enterprise grade NVT CLEER switch has 24 downlink Ports each able to deliver 100mbs full duplex with PoE+ to an IEEE compliant device.

Now lets look at how the switch makes your IP migration quick and easy.
The typical Analog Camera deployment would have a DVR connected to the analog camera via coax cable with many endpoints going way beyond the 300ft reach of traditional data switches.
With CLEER, the migration to IP is simple.
Step one: Racking and stacking the CLEER switch and connecting the uplink port directly into the NVR or consolidating switch for larger deployments.
Step two: Connect the existing coax infrastructure into the downlink ports of the CLEER Switch and lastly
At the camera end connect the coax to the EC link adapter and RJ45 to the IP device.
Ethernet and PoE is being delivered to the IP end point from the CLEER switch that can be over 2,000ft away.
Deployment is complete. It is that simple. No IDF closet requirements, no disruptions, just a simple, risk free and graceful way to migrate to IP.

PoE is the most important part of IP camera deployment. If the power fails the camera goes dead. The NVT CLEER switch comes standard with industry leading power capabilities.
You can stack up to four switch together creating a powerful redundant backbone. If one power supply fails the other three in the stack support the Power requirements of the failed unit.
In addition the power supply is hot swappable meaning in the event a unit does fail you can simple remove the existing power supply and replace it with a new one.

The CLEER switch has many award winning feature not found in other Ethernet over Coax solutions.
The first is Bandwidth capabilities. Most other solutions the bandwidth speed reduces the further the distance.
The CLEER switch bandwidth is 100Mbs symmetrical, full duplex regardless of distance.
Some players mislead users by combining the up and download speeds to make it look like the bandwidth speeds are higher. For example if we did that we would claim 200Mbs when combining the up and download speeds.
The CLEER switch is based on newer long reach Ethernet technology when may others are based on older technology that requires modulation conversion introducing higher latency.
In addition, many other are half duplex which is not the greatest for video streaming. The CLEER is full duplex meaning it can receive and transmit at the same time, much better for streaming.
With CLEER, each downlink port has plenty of bandwidth to support the most demanding cameras including the 4K HD cameras with plenty of bandwidth to spare.
IP cameras at time stop operating and requires a hard reboot. Unfortunately many of the other solutions do not allow for remote power reset and may take days to address. On the other hand the CLEER switch has remote power cycling of ports allowing you to reset the power in seconds from anywhere in the world. Think of the savings this feature can bring you.
Another stressful part of migrating to IP is effectively troubleshooting the network to identify what is causing any issues. With CLEER troubleshooting is simple.
The downlink Ports tab provides detailed information including Received packet and error counts and transmitted packets and error counts as well as link error counts.
In addition if you hover over the port you can see Multicast, Broadcast and Unicast packets as well as the bandwidth being used.
In a single snapshot you can see the status of every port and easily identify if the infrastructure is the root cause of potential performance issues.
The forth big feature is enhanced security. Most others do not block intruders. Anyone can gain access to your network by disconnecting a camera and connecting their device.
The CLEER switch allows you to lockdown every port on the switch so no other device can gain access to the network other than the device with the posted MAC address. A very important security feature for many customers.
The power capabilities of a PoE switch is the most important feature. Without power the end point fails to operate. Most EoC solutions have limited power capabilities The CLEER switch comes standard with robust power features including:
Power sharing for redundancy
Hot swappable power supply
Auto sensing 500/1000watt power supply
AC or DC power source options for same switch
Power management by port.

NVT: NVT has some of the features but not all
Altronix Ebridge: Has very few and is a midspan or bridge like solution.
Niteck also does not have many of the features that come standard with the Phybridge CLEER switch.
Veracity has an individual port midspan adapters with a plastic rack like mount that can be combined for 24 end points.

The EC link adapter can also be paired together as a single port solution. There is a toggle on one side of the adapter that you move over and it becomes the base unit that connects to the PoE switch.
The EC link adapter leverages the coax infrastructure and another adapter is installed at the camera end.
The PoE will come from the PoE switch or you can locally power the EClink adaper either at the base unit delivering 30 watts over the coax or at the camera end delivering over 100 watts over the RJ45 cable.
The EC link adapter can also be paired with an EC4 adapter to extend Ethernet capability and enable up to 4 IP devices over a single coax cable.
