What are double object pronouns? When both an indirect and a direct object are used in the same sentence, we must use double object pronouns . This simply means that we must use both an indirect and a direct object. Before we talk about using double object pronouns, let’s quickly review direct and indirect objects.

Direct Object Pronouns When the pronoun replaces the name of the direct object, use the following pronouns: me te lo la nos los las me us you (fam.) him her it you (form.) them you (pl.)

What is an indirect object ? The indirect object answers the question “to whom?” or “for whom? ” the action of the verb is performed. He gives the flowers to Sarah. To whom does he give the flowers? Indirect Object Pronouns When the pronoun replaces the name of the indirect object, use the following pronouns: me te le nos les me us you (fam.) him her it you (form.) them you (pl.)

Double Object Pronouns When both an indirect and direct object pronoun are used in the same sentence, the indirect object pronoun (I) precedes the direct object (D): ID . ¿Quién nos compró la pizza ? Mi padre nos la compró. - ¿Cuándo te compró el vestido ? - Él me lo compró ayer.

Use of se - Double Object Pronouns When both the indirect and the direct object pronouns begin with the letter l , the indirect object pronoun always changes to se . The direct objct pronoun does not change. Él le compra unos zapatos a ella. Se los compra a ella. Les mandamos la blusa a ustedes. Se la mandamos a ustedes. It is often necessary to use “a + name” for clarification when you are using se .
