1. IF… THEN…
Estas oraciones son utilizadas para hablar de eventos que no han
sucedido.
Pueden ser de tres tipos:
1.Causa y efecto: conocido como condicional simple, expresan
acciones que podrían suceder si algo sucede.
Tienen la siguiente estructura:
IF + ORACION EN PRESENTE SIMPLE +THEN + ORACION EN
FUTURO SIMPLE
CONDICIONALES
2. Ejemplo:
If my sister wins the exam then I will buy her an ice-cream
Nota: la primera oración puede presentarse también en futuro
simple.
Ejemplo:
If you want to be thinner then why do you eat so much fatty
food?
2. Probabilidad e improbabilidad: Habla acerca de una
consecuencia o evento posible.
3. Tienen la siguiente estructura:
IF + ORACION EN PASADOSIMPLE +THEN + SUJETO +
WOULD + VERBO EN INFINITIVO +COMPLEMENTO
Ejemplo :
If my sister went to Canada, then she would bring me many
presents.
Nota : Si el verbo to be aparece en la oración de tiempo pasado
utiliza were en lugar de was para sugerir quela situación es poco
probable.
Ejemplo If I were rich, I would buy a new car.
4. 3. Contrario a un hecho u evento pasado: Se refiere a un hecho
hipotética de un evento que no ha sucedido.
Tiene la siguiente estructura:
IF + ORACION EN PASADO PERFECTO +THEN + SUJETO+
WOULD + HAVE + VERB EN PASADO PARTICIPIO +
COMPLEMETO
Ejemplo :
If my brother had gone to Canada, then He would have brought
me many presents
