Este documento describe los diferentes modales en inglés y sus usos para expresar consejo, obligación, permiso, posibilidad, habilidad y más. Algunos modales mencionados son should, must, can, may, might, used to, entre otros.

-Advice//Consejo
(Should-Ought to)//(Debería)
Deberías escucharla, es una experta.
You should-Ought to listen to her. She's an expert.
-Obligation//Obligación
(Must)//(Deber)
Debes pagar los impuestos.
You must pay taxes.
-Lack of obligation//Ausencia de obligación
(Needen't)//(No hace falta)
You needen't go out if you don't feel like it.
No hace falta que salgas si no te apetece.
-Prohibition//Prohibición
(Mustn't)//(No debes)
You mustn't talk in the library.
No debes hablar en la biblioteca.
-Possibility//Posibilidad
(May/MIght)//(Puede que)
I may/might go to the cinema tonight.
Puede que vaya al cine esta noche.

(Can)//(Poder)
You can borrow my car.
Puedes pedir prestado mi coche.
