Definition: Concept and Goals - Definition of "definition"Michel Alves
In Philosophy or Logic the concept of 'definition' is the state or condition of being clearly defined or definite, specification of the essential properties of something, or of the criteria which uniquely identify it, or a formal and concise statement of the meaning of a word, phrase, etc. In this presentation, we will treat the concept of 'definition' from the logical point of view. The main reference used for this treatment was the book by Irving Copi: 'Introduction to Logic'.

4. La suma y la resta. Propiedades
• Suma
• Para añadir una parte,
juntar varias cantidades o
calcular el total, hacemos
una suma.
• Resta
• Para quitar una parte o
saber cuánto nos falta
para llegar a una
cantidad, hacemos una
resta.
5. La multiplicación. Práctica y
propiedades
• En la práctica,
no escribimos

productos
parciales y
situamos cada
orden de
unidades en su
columna.
6. Práctica de la división
• Para dividir 957 712
entre 736,
procedemos así:
• Repartimos 957 UM
entre 736.
• Tocan a 1 UM y
sobran 221 UM.
• 221 UM=2 210 C.
7. La jerarquía en las operaciones
combinadas
• Siempre que aparecen
operaciones combinadas
es necesario conocer en
qué orden debemos
realizarlas.
• Primero, realizamos la
operación que está entre
paréntesis.
• Después, las
multiplicaciones y
divisiones.
• Por último, las sumas y las
restas.
