Este documento discute cómo los milagros de Dios buscan confirmarnos en la fe y guiarnos hacia la conversión interior. También analiza varios ejemplos bíblicos como la curación milagrosa de Jesús y cómo estos eventos fortalecieron la fe de las personas. El autor argumenta que los milagros muestran la misericordia divina y nos impulsan a creer más profundamente.

2. ¿Por qué Dios hace milagros?
Pienso que solo hay una explicación:
la infinita misericordia de Dios para con
nosotros, que brota precisamente de su infinito
amor por toda la creación (porque Dios es
amor), hace que Él se apiade de las limitaciones
que tenemos para creer y tener fe, y lo lleva a
obrar en nuestro entorno material de manera tal
que aceptemos con verdadera convicción que
existe un mundo espiritual más allá de este
entorno.

3. Así como también solamente la infinita
misericordia que brota del infinito amor
de Dios, explica la acción redentora de
nuestro Señor Jesucristo, obra cumbre
en la historia de la salvación de la
humanidad, de ese amor y misericordia
infinitos.

4. O sea, que en el fondo,
Dios hace milagros en su
inmenso deseo de
ayudarnos a que,
respetando el sagrado
libre albedrío que Él
mismo nos ha otorgado,
y jamás viola, seamos
capaces de alcanzar la
salvación.

5. Porque, como nos dice
el Dr. Ricardo Castañón
en su libro «La
transformación interior
a través de la vivencia
humana»
[12ma. ed., Grupo Internacional para la Paz,
El Salvador, C.A., 2012, p. 236],
«hemos sido creados
para poblar el cielo, y
no el lugar del castigo
eterno».

6. Por lo tanto, los
milagros son parte del
perenne llamado de
Dios a la Conversión.
Y…
«no hay Conversión
sin Transformación»
[Ibídem, p. 57].

7. Milagros
que nos confirman
en la fe.

8. San Martín de Porres, el
santo dominico peruano
enfermero del siglo XVII,
conocido por su fama de
"hacer" curaciones físicas
milagrosas (entre muchos
otros prodigios), solía
decirle a la persona curada
(quien le agradecía el
milagro):
«Yo te curo, Dios te sane»
[R. Vargas Ugarte, s. j., «El santo de los pobres»,
Ed. Paulinas, Perú, 2001, p. 136].

9. Con lo que quería decir
que él administraba el
tratamiento médico,
pero lo más importante
era que Dios mediante el
milagro sanara a la
persona, no solo física
sino espiritualmente.

10. Milagros que nos confirman en la fe.
Hay varios pasajes del
Evangelio que relatan
curaciones físicas
milagrosas realizadas
por Jesucristo. Al
obrar estos milagros,
Jesús siempre dice al
beneficiado:
«Tu fe te ha

salvado» [ Lc. 7:50, 8:48, 17:19,
18:42; Mc. 5:34, 10:52; Mt. 9:22 ].

11. Milagros que nos confirman en la fe.
Jesús nunca dice que la
fe lo ha "curado" ni
"sanado", sino "salvado".
Es como si le dijera a la
persona curada que su fe
ha sido tan grande, que
ha permitido el milagro,
anunciándole a la vez
que esa gran fe permitirá
su salvación definitiva.

12. Pero, ¿por qué "permitido"?
Porque Dios requiere de nuestra
colaboración para que su Gracia actúe en
nuestras vidas. Es así, requiriendo nuestro
"permiso", que Él salvaguarda nuestro libre
albedrío. Por eso es que muchas veces no
se nos conceden favores que solicitamos de
Dios: porque no colaboramos con su Gracia
– NO LE HEMOS “DADO PERMISO”.

13. Qué gran ejemplo de
colaboración con Dios
nos da la Santísima
Virgen al dar su
consentimiento al Ángel
de la Anunciación:
«He aquí la esclava del
Señor. Hágase en mí
según tu palabra»
[Lc. 1:38].

14. María así le dio
permiso al
Espíritu Santo
para que actuara,
efectuándose el gran
milagro de la
Encarnación del Hijo,
que a su vez dio paso
a la misericordiosa
obra redentora del
Padre.

15. ¡Cuán fructífera es
nuestra fe cuando,
subordinando nuestra
voluntad a la voluntad
divina, nos unimos a
Dios dándole nuestro
fiat, nuestro asentimien-
to, y dejamos que el
Todopoderosos actúe en
nuestras vidas!

16. O sea, que primero la persona tuvo fe,
y después se produjo el milagro.
Por lo que podemos decir que Dios
hace milagros para confirmarnos
en lo que ya creemos.

17. Y vale recalcar que solo si estamos
"listos" y bien dispuestos de corazón
como María – si en efecto estamos
colaborando con Dios mediante
nuestro proceder de pensamiento,
palabra y obra – podemos tener la
certeza de que lo que pidamos nos
será concedido,

18. como nos promete Jesucristo
en el Evangelio:
«Les aseguro que todo lo que
pidan al Padre en mi nombre,
Él se lo concederá».
[Jn. 16:23]

19. "Gracia" quiere decir
"favor no ganado".
Y cuando estamos "en Gracia"
significa que estamos listos
para recibir de Dios
favores no merecidos.

20. Esto sucede, por ejemplo, cuando
hemos sido absueltos de nuestros
pecados (que de hecho es una gran
Gracia) mediante una confesión
sacramental,

21. y en general cuando estamos libres de
culpa de pecado – es decir, cuando
estamos limpios y bien dispuestos de
corazón.

22. La Transformación Interior que
propone Castañón, ocurre a medida
que tomamos consciencia de
nuestras conductas indeseables ante
Dios, y mediante el uso de razón y
la ayuda del Espíritu Santo, logra-
mos ir cambiando tales comporta-
mientos en nuestra vida diaria,
abriéndonos así a la Gracia de Dios
mediante la vivencia humana.

23. La base esencial es hacer,
de un constante
examen de consciencia
(tan indispensable para una
buena confesión sacramental),
un hábito de
vida.

24. Milagros
que nos impelen
a creer.

25. Dice Franz Werfel en
su insigne libro de 1941
«La canción
de Bernadette»:
"Para el que cree,
ninguna explicación es
necesaria.
Para el que no cree,
ninguna explicación es
suficiente".

26. Discrepo de estas palabras, ya que
tanto en el caso de santo Tomás
Apóstol, como en el de cada uno de
los discípulos del Señor, una vez
éste hubo visto el milagro de Jesús
resucitado, creyó – no antes.

27. Por lo que hay casos en los que una
oportuna explicación o manifesta-
ción, por no decir milagro, sí es
suficiente para suscitar una
conversión, al menos “inicial”,
como diría el Dr. Castañón
Gómez en el citado libro,
«La transformación interior».

28. De hecho, el propio testimonio de
conversión del Dr. Castañón nos
muestra que un milagro oportuno
puede llevarnos a creer, y ser el
detonante de nuestro proceso de
conversión.

29. Milagros que nos impelen a creer
Dijo el Señor a
santo Tomás: «Tú
crees porque has visto.
Dichosos los que
creen sin haber visto»
[Jn. 20:29],
porque claramente es

muy meritorio creer
LAS LLAGAS sin ver.

30. Milagros que nos impelen a creer
Sin embargo, el Señor
no condenó a Tomás
por su demora en
creer, porque entendía
que éste había
necesitado ver para
entonces creer,
STO. TOMÁS PIDE VER y se apiadó de él.
LAS LLAGAS

31. Pero,
¿por qué
Jesucristo Resucitado
se le apareció
a sus discípulos?
¿Por qué Dios quiso
obrar tal milagro?

32. Creo que se trata de una
necesidad innata del
hombre de tener que "ver
para creer", que Dios
reconoce, y por lo que
Dios sabia y
misericordiosamente
nos obsequia milagros
de todos tipos
en todos los tiempos.

33. Por ejemplo, desde el
primer milagro eucarístico
que se conoce, ocurrido en
Lanciano, Italia, en el siglo
VIII, se han observado
unos 126 tales milagros
eucarísticos alrededor del
mundo a través de los
HOSTIA Y VINO
siglos y hasta nuestros
CONSAGRADOS

días.

34. Como hemos dicho, se trata
de la inmensa misericordia
de Dios que brota de su in-
finito amor, porque Él sabe
que si creemos firmemente
en su presencia real en la
Eucaristía, se elevan
nuestras posibilidades
de salvación.

35. LOS APÓSTOLES Y MARÍA EN EL APOSENTO ALTO
Y ¿por qué aún viendo al Señor
resucitado (sin contar unos tres
años de milagro tras milagro, y
prédica tras prédica, a lo largo de
la vida pública de Nuestro Señor,
que habían vivido), los Discípulos
permanecen en el Aposento Alto
escondidos y atemorizados?

36. LOS APÓSTOLES Y MARÍA EN EL APOSENTO ALTO
¿Dónde estaba su fe en el tiempo que
tardó, desde la Ascensión del Señor, en
soplar el Espíritu Paráclito de Dios?

37. LOS APÓSTOLES Y MARÍA EN EL APOSENTO ALTO
Creo que se trata de que, como hemos
dicho antes, no es suficiente creer para que
la fe actúe y dé frutos, sino que tenemos
que estar listos y dispuestos a recibir el
soplo del Espíritu Santo en nuestro propio
“momento de Pentecostés”, que nos
aguarda a todos y cada uno de los
creyentes.
LOS DISCÍPULOS NO ESTABAN LISTOS.

38. Nosotros no podemos hacer que la
fe actúe por nuestras propias
fuerzas. Solo con la fuerza de Dios
puede actuar la fe. Pero, como se
ha dicho, el Espíritu Santo de Dios
no puede obrar hasta que el corazón
no esté listo para recibirlo – hasta
que no sea totalmente dócil a la
voluntad divina.

39. Eso hicieron los Discípulos.
Permanecieron en oración :
†edificando su fe;
†derrumbando murallas
creadas por el pecado;
†"creando nuevas huellas neurales",
como diría el Dr. Castañón.
Es decir, preparando su interior
para que el Espíritu Santo pudiera
actuar en ellos y a través de ellos.

40. Una preparación interior que solo fue
posible después de haber
experimentado el gran milagro de ver a
Jesús resucitado, y de haber por ello
creído firme e incondicionalmente en
Él – lo que el Dr. Castañón llamaría “el
punto de quiebre” [Ibídem, p. 191], o
punto decisivo, en la transformación
interior de los Discípulos.

41. LOS APÓSTOLES Y MARÍA EN EL APOSENTO ALTO
En otras palabras, tan fuerte fue el
impacto en ellos del milagro de las
apariciones de Jesús resucitado, que los
Discípulos estuvieron todos esos días
viviendo un proceso de intensa
transformación interior, continuación
del proceso de transformación iniciado
tres años antes al responder al llamado
inicial de Cristo,

42. y que culminó con la venida del
Santo Espíritu de Dios sobre ellos en
el momento oportuno y propicio en
que, habiéndose revestido de nuevas
actitudes y hábitos interiores
– habiendo sido transformados en
hombres nuevos – abrieron sus
corazones a la voluntad de Dios sin
reservas, eventualmente llegando
incluso a dar sus vidas por la fe.
EL PENTECOSTÉS

43. LOS APÓSTOLES Y MARÍA EN EL APOSENTO ALTO
Desde los primeros tiempos, la
Iglesia ha reconocido el gran valor
del ejemplo de devoción en la
oración de los Discípulos junto a
María Santísima, durante los nueve
días desde la Ascensión del Señor
hasta el Pentecostés.

44. LOS APÓSTOLES Y MARÍA EN EL APOSENTO ALTO
Tan es así, que constituye la base
bíblica de la antigua tradición de la
Iglesia de orar, originalmente sin
cesar, por nueve días seguidos
pidiendo por alguna causa.
Es la llamada "novena de oración".

45. Otro tanto podemos
apreciar, como señala el
Doctor en su taller sobre la
Transformación Interior, en
la conversión de san Pablo,
que inmediatamente después
del milagro del encuentro
con Jesucristo camino de
Damasco, cree y es
bautizado – es decir,
ANANÍAS BAUTIZA experimenta la

46. Pero tarda, se estima, dos o
tres años retirado en oración
y reflexión, para que esa fe
inicial dé el fruto de su
apostolado eclesiofundacio-
nal, y eventualmente,
de sus epístolas de
inspiración divina, llenas de
enseñanzas y principios de
fe para ayudar a conducir
a los demás hacia la
ANANÍAS BAUTIZA salvación.
A PABLO

47. Y no olvidemos el gran
ejemplo de acercamiento
al Padre del propio
Jesucristo, no solo
verdadero Dios sino
verdadero hombre, quien
se retiró al desierto en
oración y ayuno por
cuarenta días, justamente
antes de iniciar su
ministerio público.

48. En eso precisamente
consiste la
Transformación
Interior:
en un acercamiento a
Dios, que es lo que
permite que Él actúe al
desdoblarnos hacia el
prójimo en nuestro
“ministerio”, que
quiere decir “servicio”.

49. Conclusiones:

50. Primero, LA FE.
Es la respuesta afirmativa del
hombre "a la invitación de Dios"
[Catecismo de la Iglesia
Católica, #142].

51. Es decir, la CONVERSIÓN
INICIAL, que si ocurre antes de
bautizarnos nos llevará a ese valioso
e imprescindible primer sacramento
de iniciación cristiana que es el
Bautismo, cumbre terrenal de
cercanía a Dios mientras más
inmediato al nacer éste ocurra.

52. Los milagros que lleguen a nuestro
conocimiento en esta etapa inicial,
nos ayudarán a despegar en
nuestro vuelo espiritual.

53. Después, LA ORACIÓN.
Es decir, el proceso de
TRANSFORMACIÓN INTERIOR
sin el cual no es
posible crecer verdaderamente en
la fe, y lograr proceder en el
camino hacia la unión con Dios, y
que se nutre de la oración.

54. Es el comprometer toda nuestra
vivencia humana para perseverar
en la re-autoevaluación interior,
que nos llevará a su vez a ciclos
de re-conversión basados en tomas
de conciencia

55. cada vez más profundas y
minuciosas sobre nuestro
repertorio conductual ante Dios,
como propone el Dr. Catañón,
posibilitando "evitar conductas
ciegas" [R. Castañón, «La transformación interior»,
12ma. ed., p. 93] y avanzar hacia la
unión con Dios.

56. La oración, mientras más
profunda y constante, más hace
posible que contemos con la
fuerza de Dios para dominar con
la inteligencia aquellos instintos e
impulsos que en efecto ciegan
nuestra conducta y nos alejan de
Dios.

57. Esta es la base del perfecciona-
miento cristiano, ya que
«Pertenece a la perfección del bien
moral o humano el que las
pasiones estén reguladas por la
razón»
[S. Tomás de Aquino, «Summa theologiae»,
1-2, q. 24, a. 3, c, citado en el
Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica, #1767]

58. Y luego, en su momento,
LA ACTUACIÓN EN LA FE.
Es decir, nuestro individual
Pentecostés: el poner todo nuestro
ser y hacer, al servicio del bienestar
del prójimo y de su salvación,
mediante una entrega total a
la voluntad divina.

59. Y luego, en su momento,
LA ACTUACIÓN EN LA FE.
Esto, a pesar de que no somos
"transformados", sino meramente
"transformandos" cuya propia
salvación no está garantizada, pero
cuyo caminar avanza notable y
decisivamente hacia ella.

60. Y digo en su momento, porque no
podemos pretender llegar a nuestro
Pentecostés en el proceso de
LA TRANSFORMACIÓN INTERIOR
sin un largo caminar, como nos
muestran los casos tanto de los
Discípulos como de san Pablo.
En ambos casos, se trató de años.

61. En realidad, LA TRANSFORMACIÓN
INTERIOR es un proyecto de vida, que
requiere todo el empeño y compromiso
de LA VIVENCIA HUMANA.

66. Why does God perform miracles?
I believe there's only one explanation:
God's infinite Mercy toward us, born of his
infinite Love for Creation (for God is Love),
causes him to have pity on our limited ability to
believe and have faith.
It drives Him to act in our material environment
in ways that will cause us to accept, with deep
conviction, the reality of a Spiritual World
beyond that environment.

67. Just as only God's infinite Mercy, born
of God's infinite Love, can explain Our
Lord Jesus Christ's work of
Redemption – the pinnacle of God's
infinite Love and Mercy throughout
Salvation History.

68. Simply put, God
performs miracles in
his great desire to help
us be able to reach
Salvation, always
mindful of our sacred
free will which He
himself has gifted us
and never violates.

69. For, as Dr. Castañon
tells us in his book
"Transforming the Inner
Self through the Human
Life Experience"

perennially calling us
to Conversion.

"there can be no
Conversion without
Transformation"

that confirm
our Faith.

72. St. Martin de Porres, the
Peruvian Dominican nurse
Saint of the 17th century,
know for "his" many
miraculous physical heal-
ings (among many other
prodigies), would tell the
healed person who thanked
him for the miracle:
"I cure you; may

73. By which he meant that
he administered the
medical treatment, but
that the most important
thing was God's willing-
ness, by means of the
miracle, to heal him or
her, not only physically
but also spiritually.

74. Miracles that confirm our Faith.
There are several Gospel
passages that tell of
physical cures performed
miraculously by Jesus.
Upon performing each
such miracle, Jesus
always says to the person
cured: "Your faith has
saved you."

75. Miracles that confirm our Faith.
Jesus never says the
person's faith has "cured"
or "healed" him, but rather
that it has "saved" him.
As if Jesus were telling the
person that his faith had
been so great, that it had
allowed the miracle to
take place, and would
indeed allow the person's

ultimate salvation.
THE BLINDMAN

76. But, why "allowed"?
Because God requires our cooperation in
order that his Grace may act in our lives.
That is how he safeguards our free will, for
He will not act without our full consent.
And many times our prayers are not
answered precisely because we do not
cooperate with his Grace –
WE HAVE SIMPLY NOT
“ALLOWED” GOD TO ACT.

77. What a great example
we have in the Blessed
Virgin Mary as she gives
her consent to the Angel
of the Annunciation:
"Behold, I am the
handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me
according to your
word."
[Luk. 1:38].

78. Mary thus gave the
Holy Spirit permission
to act, allowing the
great miracle of the
Incarnation of the Son
to take place, and the
Father’s merciful
work of Redemption
to proceed.

79. O, how fruitful our
Faith can be when,
having surrendered
our will to his, we
give our assent to
God Almighty,
allowing Him to act
in our lives!

80. Thus, first the person had faith
and then the miracle took place.
So we can indeed say that God
performs miracles to confirm to us
that which we already believe.

81. But note that only if we are "ready"
and well disposed in our hearts
(Mary’s example) – if in fact we are
cooperating with God's Grace by the
content of our thoughts, words, and
deeds – can we be certain that
what we ask of God will be granted,

82. as Jesus promised us
in the Gospel:
"Whatever you ask the Father
in my name, he will give you."
[Joh. 16:23]

83. "Grace" means
“unearned favor.”
And when we are
"in a state of Grace,"
it means that we are ready to
receive unearned favors
from God.

84. This is the case, for example,
when we are absolved of our sins
(which itself is a great Grace) through
the Sacrament of Reconciliation;

85. and, in general, when we are free
of any guilt of sin – that is,
when we are cleansed and well
disposed in our hearts.

86. Our inner transformation, as described
by Castañón, occurs as we take heart of
our undesirable behaviors before God,
and, through reason and Divine
Assistance, manage to change such
behaviors in our daily lives, thus
opening ourselves up to God’s Grace
through our life experience.

87. It entails, at its core,

constantly performing an
Examination of Conscience,
already well known as a must
for a good sacramental
confession.

88. Miracles
that drive us
to believe.

89. In his landmark book of
1941, "The Song of
Bernadette", Franz
Werfel tells us:
"For he who believes,
no explanation is
necessary.
For he who does not
believe, no explanation
is sufficient."

90. I beg to differ with these words,
given that in the case of St.
Thomas the Apostle, as in that of
each of Jesus' Disciples, once he
had seen the miracle of the Risen
Lord, he believed – but not before.

91. Therefore, there are instances in
which a timely explanation or sign –
in other words, a miracle – is quite
sufficient to bring about a
conversion, even if only an “initial”
one, to use a term from Dr.
Castañon's aforementioned book
"Transforming the Inner Self."

92. In fact, Dr. Castañon's own
conversion story shows that a
timely miracle can compel us to
believe, and can trigger our own
Conversion process.

come to believe because
you have seen. Blessed
are those who have not
seen and believe."

Because, clearly, it is
very laudable to believe

Yet, note that the Lord
did not condemn
Thomas for his delay in
believing, because He
understood that Thomas
had indeed needed to
see in order to believe,
and took pity on him.

95. But,
why did the
Risen Jesus
appear miraculously
to his Disciples?
Why did God choose to
perform such a miracle?

96. I believe the answer is
that God recognizes
that we mortals have an
innate need to see in
order to believe, and
wisely and mercifully
showers us with
miracles of all kinds
in every age.

97. For instance, since the first
Eucharistic miracle on
record, which took place in
Lanciano, Italy, in the 8th
century, there have been
some 126 such miracles
reported around the world
throughout the ensuing
BLEEDING
twelve centuries, right up
CONSACRATED
HOST AND WINE
to the present day.

98. As was mentioned before,
this happens due to God's
immense Mercy born of
his infinite Love, because
He knows that if we
believe firmly in his real
presence in the Eucharist,
we are more likely to

reach Salvation. IT IS

99. THE APOSTLES AND MARY IN THE UPPER ROOM
So why, even after seeing the
Risen Lord (not to mention the
miracle after miracle, and divine
sermon after sermon, that they
experienced in the three prior years
of Our Lord's public life), do the
Disciples remain in the Upper
Room hiding in fear?

100. THE APOSTLES AND MARY IN THE UPPER ROOM
Where was their Faith in the time it took,
since the Ascension of the Lord, for the
Holy Spirit to breathe upon them on the
day of Pentecost?

101. THE APOSTLES AND MARY IN THE UPPER ROOM
I believe the answer is that believing is not
enough for our Faith to be effective and
yield fruits, as previously mentioned.
Rather, we also need to be ready and
willing to receive the actions of the Holy
Spirit in our own "moment of Pentecost."
Such a day awaits each and every one of us
believers.
THE DISCIPLES WERE NOT READY.

102. We cannot make our Faith act by
ourselves. Only the power of God
can make our Faith act and be
fruitful. But, as we have said,
God's Holy Spirit cannot act until
our hearts are ready to receive
Him – until our hearts are totally
docile to his Divine Will.

103. That’s just what the Disciples did:
Remain in prayer,
†building their Faith;
†tearing down the walls
put up by sin;
†"creating new neuronal imprints,"
as Dr. Castañon would say.
In summary, preparing their inner
selves so that the Holy Spirit could
act in and through them.

104. An inner preparation that was only
possible once they had witnessed the
great miracle of the Risen Lord.
Believing once and for all, as a result of
experiencing such miracle, firmly and
unconditionally in Our Lord Jesus
Christ – what Dr. Castañon would call
"the breaking point" [Ibidem, p. 191], or
decisive point, in the Disciples' process
of Inner Transformation.

105. THE APOSTLES WITH MARY IN THE UPPER ROOM
In other words, such was the impact on
them of the miracle of seeing the Risen
Jesus, that during all those days in the
Upper Room the Disciples were living
through a process of intense Inner
Transformation. This was the
continuation of the transformation
process begun some three years earlier,
when they first answered Jesus' call.

106. It culminated with the coming of
the Holy Spirit of God upon them
at the right and proper time in
which, having donned new inner
attitudes and mindsets – having
been transformed innerly into new
persons –, they opened up their
hearts to the Will of God uncondi-
tionally, eventually even giving up
PENTECOSTtheir lives for the Faith.

The Church has long recognized the
value of this example of prayer
devotion given by the Disciples, in
the company of the Blessed Virgin
Mary, during the nine days from
Ascension to Pentecost.

108. THE APOSTLES WITH MARY IN THE UPPER ROOM
So much so, that it is the biblical
basis for the Church's long-
standing tradition of praying,
originally nonstop, for nine
consecutive days to obtain a
favor from God. We know this
as the "Novena Prayer."

109. Similarly, as Dr, Castañon
points out in his I. T.
Workshop, we can see as
much in the tale of St. Paul's
Conversion. In that case,
immediately after the
miraculous encounter with
Jesus Christ on the road to
Damascus, St. Paul believes
and is baptized – that is,
he experiences Initial

110. But it takes some two or
three years withdrawn in
prayer and reflection for that
initial Faith to yield the fruit
of his church-founding
apostolate, and eventually of
his divinely inspired epistles
full of teachings and
principles of formation in
the Faith, aimed at helping

111. And we must not forget
the extraordinary example
of drawing closer to the
Father given by Jesus
Christ himself, not only
true God but true man, by
withdrawing into the
desert in prayer and
fasting for forty days, just
prior to beginning his
Public Ministry.

112. That is precisely the
gist of the
TRANSFORMATION
OF THE INNER
SELF: a drawing
closer to God which
allows Him to act as
we "minister to,"
which means "serve,"
our neighbor in the
JESUS IN THE DESERT
Faith.

113. Conclusions:

114. First, FAITH.
“The adequate response”
to God's “invitation”
[Catechism of the Catholic Church, #142].

115. That is, INITIAL CONVERSION,
which if it takes place before our
Baptism, will bring us to that
invaluable and indispensable first
Sacrament of Christian Initiation,
the earthly Pinnacle of closeness to
God the nearer to childbirth it
occurs.

116. Those miracles that we may come
to know during this initial phase
will help us take flight on our
spiritual journey.

117. Then, PRAYER.
That is, the process of
INNER TRANSFORMATION
without which it is not possible to
grow in earnest in the Faith and
be able to proceed toward
our union with God, and which is
nourished by Prayer.

118. It is committing ourselves in our
life experience to staying on the
path of inner re-self-evaluation,
which in turn will lead us to
reconversion cycles based on ever
greater and more detailed

119. awareness of our behavioral
repertoire before God, as described
by Dr. Castañon, making it possible
to "avoid blind behaviors" [R. Castañón,
“La transformación interior”, 12th ed., p. 93] and
proceed toward our union with
God.

120. The deeper and more constant our
prayer life, the more it will make
possible that we benefit from the
power of God to control with our
intelligence those instincts and
impulses which in effect blind our
behaviors and distance us from
God.

121. It is the basis of
Christian Perfection, as
"It belongs to the perfection of
the moral or human good that
passion be governed by reason"
[St. Thomas Aquinas, «Summa theologiae», I-II,
24, 3, quoted in the Catechism of the Catholic
Church, #1767]

122. And finally, in due course,
LIVING THE FAITH.
That is, our individual Pentecost:
placing ourselves and our works at
the service of our neighbor's
welfare and Salvation through total
submission to the
Will of God.

123. And finally, in due course,
LIVING THE FAITH.
This, even though we are not
ourselves "transformed", but merely
"transformands" whose own
Salvation is not assured, but whose
paths point markedly and decidedly
toward it.

124. And I say in due course, because
we cannot pretend to reach our
Pentecost through the process of
TRANSFORMING OUR INNER SELVES
without travelling the long
arduous road required,
as indicated by both the case
of the Disciples and that of St. Paul.
In both cases, it took years.

125. In reality, TRANSFORMING THE
INNER SELF is a life-long project, that
requires all the intent and commitment
of THE HUMAN LIFE EXPERIENCE.
