3. Affirmative Commands tell someone what to do.
To form the Affirmative Tú command:
Put the verb in the Tú form
Drop the –S
Hablar  hablas  habla
Comer  comes  come
Escribir  escribes  escribe
Irregulars:
Decir – di
Hacer – haz
Poner – pon
Salir – sal
Tener – ten
Venir – ven
Ir – ve
Ser - sé

4. Affirmative commands
If the command is affirmative:
Attach pronoun to the end of the
command.
Add accent to the 3rd syllable
counting from the end
A syllable
usually
has one
vowel. So
just count
3 vowels.

6. Review Negative Commands
Negative commands tell someone what NOT to do.
To form a Negative Tú command:
 Put the verb in the YO form
 Drop –O
 Add the OPPOSITE Tú ending.
 -AR verbs  add –ES
 -ER & -IR verbs  add –AS
Hablar  hablo  no hables
Comer  como  no comas
Irregulars:
Ir – no vayas
Ser – no seas
Estar – no estés
Dar – no des

7. Negative Commands
If the command is negative:
Place the pronoun before the
command, but after the “no”
Follow this construction:
NO + DOP + Command
No saques la basura.
No la saques.

If there aren’t 3 vowels
when you add the
pronoun, then no
accent is needed!

10. Exceptions…
With the verb limpiar,
in an affirmative command,
count the ia as one vowel.
¡Limpia la casa! → Clean it!
