Este documento describe las características de las leyendas. Explica que las leyendas surgen de hechos reales que afectan a una comunidad y se transmiten oralmente. Se caracterizan por contener elementos de suspenso, humor u horror. También detalla las características estructurales, lingüísticas y textuales de las leyendas, como su lenguaje coloquial, personajes sobrenaturales y temas como los santos o los hombres lobo. Finalmente, resume las dos etapas en que se dividen las leyendas en México

2. Origen y desarrollo de la leyenda
Las leyendas son relatos que surgen en el pasado, en
donde se encuentran las raíces de nuestra identidad; lo
que relatan no es estático, se altera con el paso del
tiempo, de acuerdo con las características generacionales
que las repite y así las conserva.
Una misma leyenda puede tener varias versiones
porque al contarla cada narrador la modifica y enriquece.

6. Características lingüísticas de la leyenda
o Lenguaje coloquial
o Su creación es anónima
o Proceden de la gente que las narra, las vive y al
mismo tiempo le imprimen elementos fantásticos
de generación en generación
o Usan un lenguajes popular de acuerdo con la
época en que surgió el relato
o Escritura: verso o prosa con diálogos

Estructura e historia de la leyenda:
