encontrar este tipo de verbos en una conversación cotidiana y
también haremos un repaso sobre preguntas de uso común de una
manera mas amable, es decir preguntar o pedir algo de una manera
mas formal con personas que aun no se conocen bien o que se ven
por primera vez. Vayamos pues al estudio de estos temas

2. Questions and Question Words
Subject Questions – Object Questions
• Subject questions: When we use the question words who, which and what to ask about the subject of
the verb, we form the question wothout auxiliary verbs (who/which/ what/ + verb in the affirmative
form).
Ex: Who saw the accident? Tom (saw the accident)
What happened outside? An accident (happened)
• Object Questions: When we use the question words who, which, and what to ask about the object of
the verb , we form the question with auxiliary verbs ( who/which/what / + verb in the question form )
Ex: Who did you see at the restaurant?
(I saw) Tom and June
What are you eating?
(I’m eating) Chinese food.

3. Verbs with two objects
• Certain verbs ( give, offer, send,show, buy,etc) take two objects. The direct object usually indicates a thing and the
indrect object usually ndicates a person (who we do the action to or for)
indirect object
Adam sent Laura an e- mail.
direct object
Tina bought Jake a watch.
Or
direct object
Adam sent an e-mail to Laura.
indirect object
Tina bought a watch fo Jake
When asking about the indirect object, we must put to or for at the end of the question.
Who did Adam send an e-mail to?
Who did Tina buy a watch for?

4. Indidrect Questions
Indirect questions are introduced by phrases like:
• Could you tell me…
• Can you tell me…
• Do you know…
• I was wondering…
• Do you have any idea…
• I’d like to know…
• Would it be possible…
• Is there any chance…
In indirect questions the verb is in the affirmative form
Where is the post office? (Direct Question)
Do you know where the post office is? (Indirect Question)

aun más cortés o formal. Es importante formular las preguntas adecuadas ya que de lo contrario no podrás saber si
estas solicitando la información adecuada y quizá la información que recibas no sea la esperada.
Las preguntas suelen ser la estructura gramatical mas complicada en el idioma inglés y es por eso que se dedica un
tema especifico para ellas, son de suma importancia y utilidad, esperamos que los ejemplos y ejercicios hayan sido
ilustrativos para ti y que sigas aprendiendo de manera sencilla cada uno de estos temas que dejamos para ti.
