Architecture was about creating beautiful, sophisticated buildings and complex geometries and Urban Design was always approached from a bird’s eye view, and a single designer’s perspective, with teamwork being neglected in both since ideas should always be original, personal and nontransferable.
People, fluxes, behavior and the social dimension of our work were not mentioned or considered.
This was the pre-google era and the time and framework in which I received education.
So after this I kept on learning every single day and transforming myself in connection with society fluxes and today I understand our role goes beyond the building experience to include the space and time before and after the intervention occurs.
SOCIAL / ENVIRONMENT / TECHNOLOGY
These are the three main topics that underlie our approach to urban issues and architecture design.
Our professional research, as well as our teaching, focuses on exploring new possibilities through technology to streamline processes and the relationship between people and their environment, aiming to improve everyday life and social issues and promoting interdisciplinary cooperation in doing so.
I am presenting today our journey from that point, showing our interests and concerns during these years and how what we learned affected and currently affects our design work, practice and teaching.
We have organized the projects around certain topics and strategies.
