My fourth graders enjoyed creating these monster booklets to practice Spanish vocabulary for body parts, colors, and shapes. Each student will imagine a "scary" monster and write a description in Spanish. Next, each student will read his/her description out loud. Classmates will draw a monster based on the description they hear. Students had a great time drawing each other's monsters and holding up their booklets at the end of each description to compare their drawings. It was fun to see different interpretations of the same monster! At the end of the activity, students will have a lovely keepsake booklet with a monster representing each classmate. Materials needed: Each student will need a booklet (large or small) with enough room on each page for a drawing. Each booklet should contain the same number of pages as students in the classroom. Staple the corners or do a single-hole punch and tie with yarn. While this PowerPoint is geared toward elementary aged learners, the activity can be adapted for language learners of all ages.
