Nota General.- Hace ya más de nueve años que hemos tenido una serie
de lecciones directamente relacionadas con la libertad religiosa.
Aquellos que eran niños de sólo diez o doce años entonces son ahora
hombres y mujeres jóvenes. En vista de esto y de los rápidos progresos
que se están realizando en el movimiento de restricción de la libertad
religiosa, que exigen esfuerzos enérgicos, activos y agresivos por nuestra
parte, parece muy conveniente que se vuelvan a dedicar algunas
lecciones a este tema.

6. LESSON II.—The Sabbath and Liberty.
JANUARY 14, 1905.
Questions.
1. In their bondage in Egypt, what was it difficult for Israel to do ? Ps.

2. Which commandment in particular does it appear they had difficulty

Notes.
1. "In their bondage the Israelites had to some extent lost the knowledge
of God's law, and they had departed from its precepts. The Sabbath had
been generally disregarded, and the exactions of their task-masters
made its observance apparently impossible. But Moses had shown his
people that obedience to God was the first condition of deliverance; and
his efforts made to restore the observance of the Sabbath had come to
the notice of their oppressors."—Patriarchs and Prophets, page, 260.

. . Now all have made their decision; the wicked have fully united with
Satan in his warfare against God. The time has come for God to

3. "The Revelator foretells of the banishment of Satan, and tffe
condition of chaos and desolation to which the earth is to be reduced;
and He declares that this condition will exist for a thousand years."—
Great Controversy, page 658. "The great plan of redemption results in
fully bringing back the world into God's favor. All that was lost by sin is
restored. Not only man, but the earth is redeemed, to be the eternal
abode of the obedient. For six thousand years, Satan has struggled to
maintain possession of the earth. Now [after the 1,000 years and the
destruction of the wicked] God's original purpose in its creation is
accomplished."—Patriarchs and Prophets, page 342.
4. From the study of this and the preceding lesson, itis evident that the
Sabbath, or seventh day, stands for rest and liberty. On the first
seventh day God rested from all His works, and was refreshed. In the
seventh or sabbatical year the Hebrew servants were' to be released and
"go out free." In the jubilee, or the great sabbatical year, the year after
seven times seven years, universal liberty was to be proclaimed. And in
the great millennial sabbath, the seventh thousand years, God's people
are to be released from all bondage and oppression, and spend a
sabbath of rest in the kingdom of God.

Notas.
1. "En su esclavitud los israelitas habían perdido en cierto modo el
conocimiento de la ley de Dios, y se habían apartado de sus preceptos."
El sábado fue generalmente desatendido y las exigencias de sus
maestros hicieron su observancia aparentemente imposible. Había
demostrado a su pueblo que la obediencia a Dios era la primera
condición de la liberación, y sus esfuerzos hechos para restablecer la
observancia del Sábado habían llegado a la vista de sus opresores

Ahora todos han tomado su decisión, los malvados se han unido
completamente con Satanás en su guerra contra Dios." Ha llegado el
tiempo para que Dios vindique la autoridad de Su Ley oprimida ","
Durante seis mil años, la obra de rebelión de Satanás ha "hecho
temblar la tierra". .
Durante seis mil años su prisión ha recibido al pueblo de Dios. "" La
obra de Satanás de la ruina está para siempre terminada. Durante seis
mil años ha hecho su voluntad, llenando la tierra de desgracia y

redención da como resultado el regreso completo del mundo a favor de

hombre, sino la tierra redimida, para ser la morada eterna de los
obedientes. Ha luchado para mantener la posesión de la tierra.

4. Del estudio de esto y de la lección precedente, es evidente que el
sábado, o séptimo día, representa el descanso y la libertad. En el primer
día séptimo Dios descansó de todas sus obras, y fue refrescado. En el
séptimo año o año sabático, los siervos hebreos fueron "liberados y"
salieron libres ". En el jubileo, o el gran año sabático, el año después de
siete veces siete años, se proclamaría la libertad universal. Y en el gran
sábado milenial, el séptimo milenio, el pueblo de Dios será liberado de
toda servidumbre y opresión, y pasará un día de reposo en el reino de
Dios.
