GENERAL RULES (reglas generales)
SHORT ADJECTIVES - 1 or 2 syllables "ADJ + ER"
(Adj. cortos de 1 y 2 sílabas) se le agrega "er" al final
LONG ADJECTIVES - 2/3 syllables "MORE + ADJ"

WE DUPLICATE THE FINAL CONSONANT
THOSE THAT ENDS "VOWEL + CONSONANT"
(Se duplica la consonante final cuando terminan vocal + consonante)
EXAMPLES : BIG - BIGGER / FAT - FATTER / HOT - HOTTER
ONLY ADD "R"
IF THE ADJECTIVE ENDS IN "E"
(si el adj. termina en "e", sólo se le agrega la "r")

1) THOSE THAT END "Y": We change "y" to "i" and add "er"
(Los que terminan con "y", se cambia por "i" y se le agrega "er")
EXAMPLES : happy - happier / easy - easier / early - earlier
2) WE CAN USE "MORE" OR ADD "ER"
(podemos utilizar "more" o agregar "er" al final)
EXAMPLES : MODERN - more modern / MODERNER (más moderno que)
QUIET - more quiet / QUIETER (más tranquilo que)
SIMPLE - more simple / SIMPLER (más simple que)
NARROW - more narrow / NARROWER (más angosto que)

¿Recuerdas las 5 reglas para formar el comparativo y
superlativo de los adjetivos en inglés? Vamos a
revisarlas aquí:
REGLA 1
El comparativo y superlativo de los adjetivos de una sílaba se forman
agregando las terminaciones -er y -est al final del adjetivo:
cold >> colder >> coldest
REGLA 2
Los adjetivos que terminan con vocal seguida de una consonante
duplican la consonante final antes de agregar las terminaciones -er or -
est:
hot >> hotter >> hottest

REGLA 3
Los adjetivos de dos sílabas que terminan en -y cambian la y por i y
recién entonces agregan las terminaciones -er or -est:
noisy >> noisier >> noisiest
REGLA 4
En el caso de adjetivos de dos o más sílabas (excepto aquellos
terminados en -y) el comparativo y superlativo se forman con more y
most:
beautiful >> more beautiful >> most beautiful
REGLA 5
Recuerda que los comparativos y superlativos "irregulares" cambian
totalmente. Aquí tienes algunos:
good >> better >> best
bad >> worse >> worst
far >> farther / further >> farthest / furthest
