 In Spanish, direct object pronouns replace direct objects. The direct
object pronoun goes directly in front of the conjugated verb.

 When the direct object is a specific person or place, an a is always
placed before it.
José invitó a Gloria. - José invited Gloria.
María llevó a sus padres al cine. - María took her parents to the movies.
