Development of a new model for the
simulation of N2O emissions from wheat
cropping systems in Spain

2. Ineficiencia en el uso del N: consecuencias económicas y medioambientales (ej: GEI).
N2O es el GEI más potente (casi 300 veces más potencial de calentamiento que el CO2).
N2O: producto intermediario de la nitrificación y desnitrificación microbiana en suelos.
Emisiones de N2O contribuyen aproximadamente al 8% de las emisiones globales de GEI.
Mayor fuente de emisiones de N2O: agricultura (casi 80%).
Emisiones de N2O frecuentemente estimadas mediante factores de emisión (IPCC).
Objetivo:
Describir el desarrollo de un modelo
empírico simple que simula los flujos
mensuales de N en sistemas de cultivos.
Este modelo pretende contribuir a la
mejora de las estimas de N2O en estudios
holísticos del tipo análisis de ciclo de vida
(ACV) e inventarios.

14. Los resultados sugieren que la relación entre la aplicación de N y las emisiones de N2O no es
lineal. El factor de emisión aumentó al incrementar la dosis de fertilizante (de 0,6% en el
tratamiento 100N a 1,2% con la dosis más alta).
El modelo está indirectamente mostrando que las emisiones de N2O también están muy
controladas por la extracción de N de la planta y por lo tanto, por la eficiencia de uso del N de
la planta.

Resultados preliminares
15. Reflexiones:
Este trabajo muestra la importancia del uso de herramientas simples de
simulación con el fin de mejorar metodologías existentes para el cálculo
de GEI (ej. ACV)
Una correcta calibración y validación del modelo será esencial para
asegurar una buena estimación.
