2. A visit to Málaga's English Cemetery
Last Thursday we went to the English Cemetery. On it, there
were many people buried from different nationalities like
English, Spanish, American, Canadian, etc.
The cemetery is located in the Málaga's center, in Pries
Avenue. The opening times are:
From Tuesday to Saturdays during 9.30 to 14.30
On Sundays from 10.30 to 12.30.
The cementery is financially manteined trought the
contributions and donatios from visitors.

14. General Torrijos
José María Torrijos y Uriante was born
in Madrid in 1791. His parents were
called Cristóbal de Torrijos and Chacón.
Torrijos was a general. He participated
in the war for the independence and
after that in the 'uprising Jan Van Halen'
(in 1817), because they wanted to
restore the constitution of 1812.
Because of that he spent two years in
prision.
After that he travelled to France during
5 months and finally, he died in Málaga
in 1831.

Era una mañana fría, aunque no se divisaban nubes. El
grupo de 3ºA dejaba sus clases para dirigirse al
Cementerio Inglés de Málaga, que se encuentra en
pleno centro de esta bonita ciudad, para ser más
precisos, en la avenida de Príes. Muchos de los
transeúntes paseaban por delante de la puerta sin ni si
quiera percatarse de la gran historia que había detrás
de aquellos simples muros. A unos cuantos metros de la
entrada, un paso de cebras hizo que permaneciésemos
en nuestro sitio observando en silencio la entrada al
cementerio. Cualquiera diría que aquellos dos leones
que se erigían a unos cuantos metros del suelo daban
paso a un cementerio con tantos años de historia.

16. Al principio muchos de nosotros estábamos
sobrecogidos por la frialdad de un cementerio
hasta que un hombre de longeva edad nos
saludó cordialmente y se presentó como nuestro
guía en aquella tenebrosa excursión. Primero
visitamos la iglesia protestante con magníficas
vidrieras importadas del Reino Unido.
Seguidamente fuimos parándonos en distintas
tumbas, cada una de ellas con distintas historias
que nos impactaban. La mañana transcurrió de
forma divertida y amena. Por último nos dieron
algo de tiempo libre para buscar toda la
información que no habíamos sido capaces de
encontrar en un principio.
