2. El Pasado Continuo, es un tiempo verbal que describe
acciones que estaban siendo realizadas en un momento del
pasado al que se hace referencia y que luego continuaron.
Oraciones afirmativas:
Se reconocen por el uso de la forma en pasado del
verbo to be( was - were )seguida del participio
presente o gerundio del verbo.
Se usa el pasado continuo:
-Para hablar sobre una acción no terminada en un punto del pasado.
-Para hablar de 2 acciones una siendo más larga que la otra que
interumpe la acción anterior.
-Cuando se usa la palabra while (mientras) normalmente se usa
el pasado continuo.
Oraciones negativas:
Se reconocen porque después del sujeto se usa la forma negativa
del verbo to be en pasado ( wasn’t-weren’t),seguida del participio
presente o gerundio del verbo principal.
Características:
Oraciones Interrogativas:
1.Indica una acción que se estaba realizando en un momento del pasado.
2.Se caracteriza por el uso de la forma en pasado del verbo to be como auxiliar
seguido del verbo principal, en participio presente o gerundio.
3. En este tiempo el verbo to be traduce “estar”.
Se reconocen al principio de la oración se escribe la forma
en pasado del auxiliar “to be” (was-were)
seguido de los demás componentes de la oración.
3. Pasado continuo afirmativo:Subject + was/ were + present participle (verbo+ing)
I+ was + reading. (Estaba leyendo)
Pasado continuo negativo:Subject + wasn´t / weren´t + present participle.
I wasn´t reading. (No estaba leyendo).
Pasado continuo interrogativo: Questions was/were + subject + present participle.
Were you reading? (¿Estabas leyendo?)
Ejemplos del pasado continuo:
-He was playing football at half past four yesterday. (El estaba
jugando fútbol a las cuatro y media ayer).
- I was cooking when the doorbell rang. (Estaba cocinando cuando alguien
llamó a la puerta).
- I listened to the news while I was driving. (Escuché las noticias
mientras estaba conduciendo).

4. El Presente Continuo o Presente Progresivo es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para expresar
acciones que suceden en el mismo momento en que se está hablando.
Se usa el presente continuo:
Normalmente para hablar de acciones que están ocurriendo en el
momento en el que se habla. En español suele equivaler a “estar + gerundio”.
Características:
- Indica una acción que se esta realizando en un momento especifico del presente
-Se caracteriza por el uso de la forma en el presente del verbo to be como auxiliar
seguida del verbo principal en participio presente o gerundio.
-En este tiempo gramatical el verbo traduce “estar”.

Oraciones negativas:
Se reconocen por el uso de la forma en
presente del verbo to be (am- is -are) seguida
del participio presente o gerundio del verbo principal.
Se reconocen porque después del sujeto
se usa la forma negativa del verbo to be (am not - isn’t-aren’t)
seguida del participio presente o gerundio del verbo principal.
-Sujeto + verbo auxiliar ("to be") + gerúndio ("-ing").
-Sujeto + verbo auxiliar ("to be") + auxiliar negativo ("not") +
gerundio ("-ing").
Oraciones interrogativas:
Se reconocen porque al principio de la oración se escribe
la forma en presente Del auxiliar to be (am- is -are)seguido
de los demás componentes de la oración.
-Verbo auxiliar ("to be") + sujeto + gerundio ("-ing")?.
5. Ejemplos:
Afirmativa: They are riding a horse(Están montando a caballo).
Negativa: Josué isn’t living in caracas.
Interrogativas: Are they going to the beach?
Ejemplos del presente continuo:
1. I am speaking English. Yo estoy hablando inglés. (Está sucediendo ahora).
2. You are reading a book. Tú estás leyendo un libro.
3. He is studying the lesson. Él está estudiando la lección.

Formulas:
Presente continuo: S + am – is – are + V1 + C
Afirmativas: S + to be (am-is-are) + V1 + C + ET.
interrogativas: Am – is – are + S + V1 + C + ?.
6. El Futuro Continuo es un tiempo verbal que se utiliza para describir una acción que tendrá lugar en
el futuro, que puede especificarse o no, y que seguirá desarrollándose en ese momento. A veces se
trata de acciones ya planeadas, se suele mencionar el complemento circunstancial de tiempo
(tomorrow, next ,time, etc.).
- I´ll be wearing a suit at work every day.
Oraciones afirmativas:
Para construir su forma afirmativa se utiliza el futuro
simple del verbo auxiliar TO BE y el verbo principal con la
terminación ING.
-Sujeto + "will be" + gerundio.
-Sujeto + verbo auxiliar ("to be") + "going to be" + gerundio.
Oraciones Negativas:
La forma negativa se consigue colocando la
negación NOT entre el auxiliar WILL y el verbo TO BE,
seguido del verbo principal con la terminación ING:
-Sujeto + "will" + "not" + "be" + gerundio.
-Sujeto + verbo auxiliar ("to be") + "not" + "going to be" +
Gerundio.
Oraciones Interrogativas:
La forma interrogativa se construye anteponiendo el
auxiliar WILL al pronombre seguido del verbo TO
BE en su forma infinitiva y el verbo principal con la
terminación ING:
-Verbo auxiliar "will" + sujeto + "be"+ gerundio?.
-Verbo auxiliar ("to be") + sujeto + "going to be" + gerundio?.
7. Ejemplos del futuro continuo:
1. I will be studying la lección. (Yo estaré estudiando la lección).
2. She will be working at the office this afternoon. (Ella estará trabajando en la oficina esta tarde).
3. They will be travelling to London. (Ellos estarán viajando a Londres).
