La voz activa es un tipo de voz gramatical por medio de la cual
se conjuga el verbo de modo tal que el sujeto realice, ejecute o
controle la acción del verbo, es decir, sea sujeto agente.
The passive voice is a construction or verbal conjugation in
some languages by which the subject is presented as passive
(patient subject).
The active voice is a type of grammatical voice by means of
which the verb is conjugated in such a way that the subject
realizes, executes or controls the action of the verb, that is, it is
an agent.

Buenos Aires was founded by Pedro de Mendoza.
Buenos Aires fue fundada por Pedro de Mendoza.
3. La voz pasiva se forma con el verbo auxiliar “to be” y el participio
pasado del verbo.
Sujeto + verbo auxiliar (to be) + participio pasado
The passive voice is formed with the auxiliary verb "to be" and the past
participle of the verb.
Subject + auxiliary verb (to be) + past participle
The speech is written for the president.
El discurso está escrito para el presidente.
The house was built in 1975.
La casa fue construida en 1975.
4. My wallet has been stolen.

The room will be cleaned while we are out.
Se limpiará la habitación mientras estemos fuera.
To transform an active sentence to a passive one must take into account
the following:
The object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive.
The main verb is replaced by the auxiliary "to be", in its same time,
next to the main verb in participle.
The subject of the main sentence becomes the complement agent of
the passive.
If we mention in the sentence of the subject who performs the action
(subject agent), this will normally precede by the preposition "by".
5. Para transformar una oración activa a pasiva hay que tener en cuenta lo
siguiente:
El objeto de la oración activa pasa a ser el sujeto de la pasiva.
El verbo principal se sustituye por el auxiliar “to be”, en su mismo
tiempo, junto al verbo principal en participio.
El sujeto de la oración principal pasa a ser complemento agente de la
pasiva.
Si hacemos mención en la oración del sujeto que realiza la acción
(sujeto agente), este irá normalmente precedido por la preposición
“by”.

Mark Twain escribió el libro.
The book was written by Mark Twain.
El libro fue escrito por Mark Twain.
6. Se usa la voz pasiva cuando no se sabe quien ha realizado la acción.
The passive voice is used when it is not known who has performed
the action.
Example: A civilian has been killed.
Ejemplo: Un civil ha sido asesinado.
Example: The car was stolen.
Ejemplo: El coche fue robado.
Se utiliza la voz pasiva cuando se le da más importancia a lo que
pasó, que a quién realizó la acción o cuando no se quiere decir quien
la realizó.
The passive voice is used when it is given more importance to
what happened, than to who did the action or when it is not meant
who did it.
Example: The letter was delivered yesterday.
Ejemplo: La carta fue entregada ayer.
Example: A mistake was made.
Ejemplo: Un error fue cometido.
