2. Para hablar de hábitos del pasado o situaciones
en pasado que ya no se realizan en el presente,
se utiliza la expresión ‘used to’ + verbo (forma
simple o base). En español, esta frase equivale a
decir ‘solía o acostumbraba’.

When I was a child, I used to play sports.
In high school, I used to play the guitar.
In his young, my father used to have long
hair.
4. Used to siempre se refiere al pasado y se
usa para contrastar el pasado y el
presente, utilizando expresiones como
‘not anymore, no longer, o now’.

When little, my sister and I used to watch cartoons,
but not anymore.
I used to play the guitar in high school, but now I
don’t play any instrument.
Kids used to have portable CD players, but they no
longer exist.
6. En enunciados negativos se utiliza la forma didn’t use to + verb e
indica que ahora (en el presente) se tiene un hábito o costumbre
que no existía en el pasado.
Two years ago, I didn’t use to have* a full time job, now I work all day.
I didn’t use to wear* a tie and a suit, but now I have to wear formal
clothes.
7. Recuerda que al usar ‘did’, el verbo vuelve a su forma base.
Para formar preguntas utiliza ‘did’ + use to:
Did you use to have a cell phone when you were a child?
No, I didn’t. My parent’s didn’t allow me to.
