Se utiliza la estructura Iwish+ would / could + infinitive:
I wishyou wouldleave.
I wishI couldgo onholidayto Barcelona.
La estructura I wish+ would expresala voluntaddel locutor de que una situaciónactualcambie. Existe una connotaciónde irritación. El sujetodel
segundo verbo es siempre una persona diferente del locutor (you, he etc.). We use wish+ would + bare infinitive to expressimpatience, annoyance
or dissatisfactionwitha present action.
I wishyou wouldstopmakingnoise late at night.
I wishyou wouldstopsmoking. (Youare smokingat the moment and it is annoying me.)
I wishit would stop raining. (I'm impatient because it is raining andI want to go outside.)
I wishshe'd be quiet. (I amannoyedbecause she is speaking.)
Importante:
I wishyou wouldn’t drive sofast. (Younormallydrive fast andI wouldlike youto change that)
I hope youwon’t have anaccident. (Having anaccident is not something I canchange)
• Deseos sobre una situación pasada (añorada) / Wishes about the past

IV. Reading Comprehension - Learning English.
Read the text and choose the best answer for each question.
Today, millions of people want to learn or improve their Englishbut it is difficult to findthe best method. Is it better to studyinBritaino r America
or to studyin your own country?
The advantagesof going to Britain seem obvious. Firstly, you will be able to listen to the language all the time you are inthe country. You will be
surroundedcompletelybythe language wherever you go. Another advantage is that you have to speakthe language ifyou are withother people.
In Italy, it is always possible, in the class, to s peakItalianif youwant to andthe learningis slower.
On the other hand, there are alsoadvantages to staying at home to study. Youdon't have to make big changes to your life. As well as this, it is also
a lot cheaper thangoingto Britainbut it is never possible to achieve the results of living inthe UK. If you have a good teacher inItaly, I thinkyou
can learn in a more concentratedwaythanbeinginBritainwithout goingto a school.
So, in conclusion, I think that if youhave enoughtime andenough money, the best choice is to spend some time in the UK. Th is is simplynot
possible for most people, sobeing here inItalyis the onlyviable option. The most important thing to dointhis situationis to maximize your
opportunities:to speakonlyEnglishinclass and to tryto use Englishwhenever possible outside the class.
