end of it when you are
using the “Yo” form (talking
about yourself)

16. IRREGULAR STEM CHANGING VERBS
Stem changing verbs are verbs that don’t follow the regular
conjugation chart you learned in Unidad 3.
Stem changing verbs change like this e > ie
Pedir = To Ask For Querer = To Want
Tener = To Have
Preferir = To Prefer

17. Comprar – To Buy
Yo compro (I buy) Nosotros compramos (We buy)
Tú compras (you buy-informal)
Él compra (he buys) Ellos compran (they buy – plural masculine)
Ella compra (she buys) Ellas compran (they buy – plural feminine)
Ud. compra (you buy-formal) Uds. compran (they buy – plural)

26. MORE PHRASES WITH THE VERB TENER
Use Tener to tell how you feel during
weather conditions:
I’m cold = Tengo frío
(very = mucho)
I’m hot = Tengo calor
(very = mucho)

When you say “100” simply use “cien.”

(Review Unidad 8 plus review for the final exam.
• The Final Exam is called “Proyecto Final” and it has four parts to it (writing, speaking,
reading comprehension w/ questions and listening comprehension with questions)
• If you haven’t been taking notes on the Culture lessons (food, family life, housing, school
in Costa Rica) or have been receiving poor grades on your Actividad Cultural assignments,
take time to go back and review your teacher’s feedback and make sure you have 2-3
examples of life in Costa Rica for those topics listed above AND how your
family/culture/traditions/day-to-day life are the same and different from what you have
learned about Costa Rica.
• Have you been waiting until the weekend to do work? YOU WON’T HAVE THIS
OPPORTUNITY WHEN THE COURSE CLOSES ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 12. We are unable to
leave the course open so please make sure you are caught up.
