2. The Panama Canal is a route of
inter-oceanic navigation between
the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific
Ocean which crosses the Isthmus
of Panama at its narrowest point.
Since its opening, which occurred
on August 15, 1914, has had the
effect of shortening over time and
distance the
comunicaciónmarítima, energizing
trade and economic exchange by
providing a path of short transit
and relatively barata1entre the two
oceans, decisively influencing
patterns world trade

4. Traversing the Panama Canal allows
travelers to experience first hand a marvel
of engineering. The channel's slogan "The
land divided, the world united" and alludes
to its historical importance, as the genius of
its design. Thousands of seagoing vessels
use the canal each year, according to the
Panama Canal Authority "commercial
transportation activities through the Canal
represent about 5 percent of world trade."
The channel is not only useful for shipping
and military applications, it is also a
destination for cruise ships.
5. Put simply, the Panama Canal was built to
prevent the ships have to turn to below
Argentina to cross from one side to another America. That means a boat back for a couple
of months at sea, so the canal crossing saves
all that time.
The channel is completely artificial and runs on
prisoners; ie, it has many sections with gates,
when a ship wants to enter the channel, close
the back gates of the first section and fill with
water to achieve the level of the sea, then open
the front gates and into the boat, I always
pulled by a train on each side of the channel,
do not use their engines. When the boat is
inside the first section, closing the front gate
and of the second section and filled with
water, open the gate and move the boat
cierrran gates
6. La Autoridad del Canal de
Panamá (ACP) y el Grupo
Unidos por el Canal (GUPC),
liderado por la española Sacyr,
no han llegado a un acuerdo
para solucionar el conflicto
que amenaza con paralizar las
obras de ampliación del canal
tras la propuesta de la
aseguradora del proyecto,
Zurich. El encuentro entre las
tres partes, primero en la que
ha participado la aseguradora,
ha terminado sin acuerdo tras
más de cinco horas de reunión
en Panamá mediante
contactos, tanto a tres bandas
como bilaterales.
