How to do an eccentric fixture eng esp final (2)
1. How to do an accentric fixture
Eccectric parts have a bore or
counterbore that are moved to one
side, sometimes you need to make a
fixture so you can hold those parts
properly and cut the bore.
1. Find a big piece of flat metal at least 2.5
times the OD of your part that you will have
to run, and at least 2 inches thick
2. Set part, clean face, OD and do a bore so
you can put an arbor later, if your eccentric
part has a bore, and counterbore on both sides, find and arbor that is
equal to the OD of the hub of your part or a little bigger, it will be useful
if you will have to flip the part to the other side later.
3. Do a counterbore that is at least half the width fo the teeths of your part
so you can hold the part later.
4. Finish the part, clean your jaws, flip the part to the other side, check the
Tir on the clean OD, clean the face and OD on that side, send to drill and
tap. Make sure that they put a pin on the tooths to hold it.
5. Set up your 4 jaws chawks, set the arbor, (or not) put TIR on O, put your
fixture, set if to the required eccentricity, when that is done, cut the OD,
so when you finish it and set it on regular, 3 jaws it will run to the
required eccentricity.
6. Set the 3 teeths jaws, clean them, set the fixture, check tir on OD, check
that the eccentricity is right, The tir must move the required eccentricity
from a point on the Counterbore to the opposite side, (example .187)
and back to 0, it may be difficult to measure because of the pin.
7. Check the face or your part when you set it and make sure is tight
without scratching it, mark a tooth like the drawing is asking so the
concentricity runs one side on both sides of the piece.
2. Cómo hacer una fixtura eccentrica
Las partes eccectricas tienen un agujero
o counterbore que estan movidos a un
lado, a veces necesitas hacer un
accesorio para poder sostenerlas partes
correctamente .
