The summer sun in the sky,
Shining, shining up so high
Makes it warm for outside fun.
To play at the park and run,
To swim and hike and fish,
And to go on a picnic if you wish.
In the summer when the days are hot,
I like to find a shady spot,
And hardly move a single bit
And sit, and sit, and sit, and sit.

situaciones, vivencias, conocimiento o actividades.

proponiendo proyectos, actividades y flexibilizando tiempos y
espacios.

METHODOLOGY (English)
In order to carry out the educational practice within childhood
education, some fundamental concepts must be considered to achieve
the didactic unit: how the children are and in which manner do they
learn at this age.
Playing must be a central activity at this educational stage since it
constitutes a privileged element capable of integrating several
situations, experiences, knowledge and activities. Games represent a
privileged educational tool.
The concretion of methodological principles is performed via the
following structure:

DIDACTIC UNIT: THE SUMMER
A. Principles related to the way children learn
I. Activity principle: activity is Essentials for development and
learning. Boys and girls must learn by doing, and for this,
exploration, manipulation, observation, etc. are essential. Only like
this will the kids be able to discover the world around them, give
structure to their own thoughts and unveil emotions and feelings. In
short, within them, processes of learning and development occur.
Activities at this age must be varied, and the duration must be
dependent on the interest that the activity arouses on the kids.Al
activities have to be planned: daily routines, games, excursions, etc.,
since every activity involving them at school is educational. The
educator must provide with situations, objects and materials that
help the boys and girls to learn and develop their capabilities.
¿What to do?
a) Enhance and favour activity extending their experiences, providing
game situations, action and experimentation.
b) Know the evolving needs of children, adjusting actions to the kids
needs, and planning activities according to the developmental stage
of the children.
II. Globalization principle: it implies presenting the child with what
he has to learn from an integrated and diverse perspective, that is,
sequence the children’s learning experiences so that the knowledge
of the reality in which they liveis maximized.
Teaching must be organized through workshops and projects that
are significant, linking with the children’s reality, enhancing their
interest, therefore integrating naturally varied contents from
different areas of knowledge.
¿What to do?
a) Propose contents that ease the acquisition of knowledge on reality
using their own experience as a starting point.
b) Develop actions that imply the interrelation of contents proposing

projects and activities, and living flexibility to timings and spaces.
B. Principles related to learning contexts
I. Affection and safety atmosphere:children learn in an
interaction context with their environment in which they getalong.
In order to have a favourable learning experience, a loving, safe and
unprejudiced environment must be created.
¿What to do?
a) The appropriate importance must be given to affective and
relation issues at ages ranking from 0 to 3 years old, immediately
and affectionately responding to the requirements of the children,
knowing him, respecting him, talking to him, and above all, trusting
in his capabilities.
II. Time and space organization:these concepts are very important
when planning a didactic unit. These are fundamental concepts to
settle on an educative intention, and it enables the children to
orientate themselves in their environment and better interpret it.
Time must be considered as something transcending the mere
distribution of activities. It must be handled in such a way that there
is time for everything and everyone. The infant’s paces and needs
must be taken into account. Also a combination of resting time and
activity time together with free activities is optimal.
¿What to do?
a) Plan locations, materials and timings respecting the proper pace for
each child, and considering the educational purpose.
b) Create a stimulating and orderly environment that enables action,
playing, manipulation, etc. providing materials and spaces that
favour autonomy, planned before, during and after the activity.
c) Provide an environment suitable for interaction, creating diverse
spaces: for groups and individual, flexible timing, materials and
