Purpose:Explain the fundamental website architecture critical to developing effective “captureware”.Key Points:An effective Cloud marketing website has the following critical elements:A content structure that clearly outlines the services and products offered, markets served (verticals) and geographies covered, as well as an ongoing blog, and some form of product trial engine that enables prospects to “test drive” the Cloud offering. The structure and layout are optimized for the keyword strategy and link building strategy. Next are digital demand tactics that drive traffic to the site such as: SEO, e-mail blasts, referring sits, pay per click and social media. Gated conversion forms that require prospects to exchange their contact coordinates for an offer they perceive as valuable (trial, white paper, etc.) is a critical element. In the absence of gating, Partners simply have a brochure. A CRM system that houses a growing prospect database, and facilitates and coordinates outbound telesales. Marketing automation software that drives email blasts to the prospect database, enables social media marketing, manages pay-per-click campaigns and ongoing search engine optimization (SEO)Some form of increasingly automated lead scoring mechanism that accurately identifies a prospect’s quality.
El punto de contacto se dabamuytemprano. En Saas el contacto con el cliente se produce mástarde. Automatización de marketing (marketing de contenidos, demos, videos, trials…). Tenemosquemedir el recorridoquehace el cliente.Purpose:Given the changes in customer buying behaviour and the failure of second generation sales strategies, prospects are engaging with vendors much later in their buying process than ever before.Key Points:Sales strategies and sales processes must be updated to address changing prospect engagement patterns.Prospects are no longer looking to vendors for education in the early stages of their buying process.Partners will have to facilitate the education aspect of the sales process through their website and SEO strategies.Comments:Between the unlimited availability of independent, third party information and the rise of social media interaction, prospects are educating themselves on vendor performance, product capabilities, competitive analysis, pricing strategies and customer satisfaction LONG before they proactively engage vendors in a selection or procurement process. Whereas prospects needed sales professionals to educate them earlier in the sales cycle, they now self-educate then engage vendors mid-way through their buying cycle AFTER they have created a short-list and AFTER they have validated a partner’s or vendor’s offering and capabilities. They will effectively move directly to the Solution and Proof phase of the MSSP and attempt to by-pass Qualify and Develop (to the degree possible). How sales professionals engage with them at the point of engagement will significantly impact (positively or negatively) their likelihood of success. Sales professionals that attempt second generation sales tactics will alienate the buyer and likely fail to secure trust and confidence.Sales professionals that recognize this change and react accordingly; which will require business and business process content, as well as industry specific knowledge, can very quickly satisfy Qualify and Develop criteria while keeping the prospect engaged. Moreover, the buyer profile will also change; from ”traditional” IT buyers, to business community buyers.
Purpose:Revisit the existing Microsoft Solution Selling Process and the associated artefacts that support each phase.Key Points:MSSP was architected to support deep engagement, face-to-face, on-premise sales opportunities; with a correspondingly high cost of sale.Large license and services opportunities, coupled with long implementation projects, justifies the time, energy and client resources required to effectively execute the MSSP approach. Comments:Each phase of the MSSP has very distinct objectives, prospect engagement activities, exit criteria and associated artefacts; each with a specific purpose designed to increase probability of success and forecast predictability. From a sales “cycle time” and effort perspective 16% of a sales professionals energy was dedicated to Qualify & Develop, 69% of their time was allocated to Solution & Proof (prospect discovery and demonstration configuration) and 15% of time/effort is allocated to the closing sequence.

Si el vendedor se dedica a buscarlasoportunidades, el coste de ventasaumenta.Ej: los eventosfísicos son menosefectivos, webinars, demos….Purpose:Communicate the high-level differences between a traditional on-premise sales methodology and a Cloud methodology. Key Points:To effectively manage cost of sale, as well as align with the changing buying behaviour and criteria, partners will frequently have to condense the traditional five phase MSSP methodology (Deploy will also be impacted but is not necessarily material to sales execution) in order to accommodate what may often be smaller more frequent sales to the same customer.Sales professionals that execute on-premise sales methodologies in low complexity Cloud sales campaigns run the risk of irritating the buying community and potentially being outflanked by their competitors who will be focused on closing transactions much more quickly.Comments:As prospects will be engaging with partners later in the sales cycle, the Qualify/Develop phases will effectively be condensed into a single qualification process; ideally supported by an industry specific (and partner specific) qualification checklist. Additionally, given the criticality of managing cost of sale, sales professionals will wisely spend more time (25% vs. 16%) on the front end of the sales cycle to ensure a meaningful business problem-to-solution set fit prior to moving on to Solution/Proof.Solution/Proof are condensed based on an assumption that the partner has vertical expertise as well as an industry specific solution set (or IP) that significantly reduces the volume of work required to create comfort and confidence with the prospect. The less vertical content, the greater the required effort. Effort/time (as a % of overall cycle time) is also reduced from 69% to 55% based primarily on a reduction in time required to configure conduct deep discovery and demonstration preparation, as customer engage in on-line trials or preferably a scripted demo. POC’s will in most cases be replaced by the scripted demo which should reduce the time to complete this phase. Finally, more effort is allocated toward closing activities; which has historically been an area of weakness for many in the partner ecosystem. As the majority of interactions will be phone and web based, (with the exception of potentially very large opportunities) the closing sequence will require marginally more effort, but of a higher calibre than is currently demonstrated in the field.
