2. FUNCIONES DEFINIDAS A
TROZOS
Una función definida a trozos es, como su
propio nombre indica, una función que se
forma a partir de “trozos” o partes de otras
funciones.
Para definirla tendremos que determinar qué
funciones intervienen y qué trozos de ellas
nos interesan.
3. Veamos un ejemplo

4. Vamos a trabajar con trozos de tres
funciones:
y1 = 3
y2 = x −1

5. Partición del eje OX
Dividimos el eje OX en los trozos indicados:
x ≤ −2 ⇒ ( −∞, −2]
−2 < x < 3 ⇒ ( −2,3)
x ≥ 3 ⇒ [3, +∞ )

obtenemos tres regiones:

11. FUNCIÓN VALOR ABSOLUTO
La función valor absoluto mantiene el signo
de las imágenes positivas y cambia el de las
negativas.
Analíticamente este tipo de funciones son en
realidad funciones definidas a trozos.

positiva de la gráfica (por encima del eje OX) y añadir el
