segunda lengua…

78. Bilingualism aids white matter integrity in aging
Bilinguals show a larger white matter integrity in certain tracts
Journal of Neuroscience.
82. Bilingualism and Cognitive Reserve
Schweizer et al., 2012 Cortex
Bilingual patients with AD exhibited substantially greater amounts of brain atrophy than monolingual
patients in areas traditionally used to distinguish AD patients from healthy controls, specifically, the
radial width of the temporal horn and the temporal horn ratio.
Bilingualism appears to contribute to increased CR, thereby delaying the onset of AD and requiring
the presence of greater amounts of neuropathology before the disease is manifest.
84. But….not so clear
Laura B. Zahodne, Peter W. Schofield, Meagan T. Farrell,
Yaakov Stern, and Jennifer J. Manly. Neuropsychology. 2014
85. Bilingualism and Cognitive Control
Bilingualism helps the development of executive control
abilities….
However, we know little about
Which cognitive abilities ?
What is the origin of the effect ?
How reliable ?
How much experience with two languages is necessary ?
Etc…
