La degeneración macular relacionada a la edad en su fase neovascular, con dos protocolos actualizados de el tratamiento y como las multiples opciones en la actualidad persiguen proporcionar mejores pronósticos visuales, por lo cual es necesario mantener la información actualizada, se desarrolla en México el uso de faricimab nueva molecula que se abre como una nueva ventana terapeutica por medio de dos vías de señalización, para el manejo de diversas patologías incluyendo la degeneración macular en su fase neovascular, ademas se describe un implante de liberación prolongada de antiangiogénico conocido
2. Epidemiología
• Principal causa de pérdida visual severa
en adultos mayores
• 10% de DMRE presentan la forma
Neovascular
• Prevalencia de 2.7 en 1000 (Baltimore
Eye Study)
• Ceguera en el 3% población caucásica
mayor a 80 años

3. Factores de Riesgo
• Edad
• Daño por luz
• Deficiencia de micronutrientes
• TABAQUISMO
• Historia Familiar
• Padecimientos cardiovasculares
• Drusas blandas

9. Neovascularización tipo 1
• Neovascularización a partir de
coriocapilaris y se identifica por
debajo del EPR
• Patrones de hiperfluorescencia
Spaide, R. F et al. (2020). Consensus Nomenclature for Reporting Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration Data: Consensus on Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration Nomenclature Study Group. Ophthalmology, 127(5), 616–636.
10. Neovascularización Tipo 2
• Lesión sub-retiniana
• Área de hiperfluorescencia focal
bien demarcada identificada en
fases tempranas
• Incrementa la intensidad de
hiperfluorescencia y se extiende
más en fases intermedia y
tardía.

11. Neovascularización Tipo 3
• Neovascularización dependiente de vasculatura retiniana

Related Macular Degeneration Nomenclature Study Group. Ophthalmology, 127(5), 616–636.
13. Crecimiento neovascular a partir de coroides a través
de membrana de Bruch
Presencia de fibroblastos, miofibroblastos, linfocitos y
macrófagos
Función anormal de células endoteliales maduras
Propenso a sangrar
Resultando en cicatriz que genera daño y muerte de
retina neurosensorial con pérdida visual

o más líneas en 3 años
