4. Traffic Microsimulation
Consultrans performs a great deal of urban microscopic traffic studies. These studies allow for the simulation of traffic, based on transport user’s behaviour. A series of indicators can be provided in the area of traffic analysis, both in the current situation and in hypothetical situations that need to be evaluated, such as average speed, waiting times at intersections, vehicles queue lengths, traffic intensity by section and lane, malfunctions in vehicles crossing and congestion for different movements, etc… All information can be presented visually in 2D and 3D.

5. Traffic Impact Assessment
These studies are designed to analyze the traffic / transport implications of the different urban planning activities and proposals, both in the specific area of study and how they might affect neighbouring areas of the city as well.
Traffic reports reflect advantages and disadvantages that are created by each of the proposals from the mobility and traffic’s point of view. These reports allow to assess the feasibility of the project, and to identify showstoppers and conflicting issues, whereby altermative solutions and recommendations would be provided.
With regards to parking studies, Consultrans has developed a special and specific solution, using Microsimulation tools, to simulate user's behaviour when parking a vehicle. In Spain, Consultrans is the only consultant working with this tool.

6. Street Design Studies
These studies aim to improve road conditions in terms of mobility and coexistence of different road users.
The studies represent geometric redesign of intersections, changes in the sections of road and number of lanes, changes in the widths of pavement, traffic regulation, regulation of parking with provision of reserves for specific use, modification and rearrangement of the urban equipment etc..
7. Studies of intermodal hubs/ Action area plans
Consultrans was involved in a number of urban action area plans that aim to enhance sustainable transport modes such as cycling and pedestrian movement. In this field, two major studies of mobility in Madrid have been developed (see below).
Moreover, the City of Madrid has built a number of intermodal hubs of the last years, whose purpose is to shift private car users to public transport.
Consultrans has participated actively in the design of different alternatives of these intermodal interchanges, making use of traffic micro-simulation tools.

8. By developing and maintaining websites, Consultrans, through its technical assistance to the City of Madrid has used the Internet
as the main channel of communication with the Citizens, in order to keep them informed on aspects related to mobility and traffic.
Thus, for example, 2 projects that have resulted in two specific web pages have been developed:
1) Creation and Development of a Motorcycle Website as a communication channel with the Citizen.
2) Creating a Web page for the Monitoring of Occupations by Works in the Public Highways.

MARKETING PLAN DEVELOPMENT FOR HARAMAIN HIGH SPEED TRAIN PROJECT
Client: Saudi Railways Organization
Realized in: 2012 - 2014
Detailed Project Description
HHR2 Marketing Plan is aimed to both a practical and actionable objective and have the main role as the first level
vehicle for expression for:
The organization’s commercial objectives
The strategies for realization of these objectives
The actions necessary to implement the strategies
The focus of the Marketing Plan in HHR2 business is based on basic market segmentation, so the crucial element
of our Marketing Plan would be the clear definition of these segments. The first natural segmentation approach
for our commercial purpose matches the two already different considered profiles: Business Passengers and
Pilgrims. However a more accurate segmentation of these profiles should be defined basing on the survey study.
The development of the objectives set for each individual identified segments, is aimed to collectively result on
the achievement of the overall corporate objectives as identified in the Corporate Plan. (Note: It’s essential that
clear corporative strategies are defined and agreed between ASC and SRO. Pilgrims integration into the system -
and Hajj terminal incorporation -is for example a crucial point)
Type of services provided
The main work objectives are shown below:
1. Simulations and further analyse of sales and profit performance
2. Assess the potential of the railway for improved performance and traffic growth
3. Define marketing objectives;
4. Realize the Fare Policy strategy by specifying sales, pricing and promotional strategies
5. to achieve growth projected in the plan;
6. Develop a programme of action to put the plan into effect;
7. Establish methods and systems to monitor performance against the plan.
14. FARE POLICY DEVELOPMENT FOR HARAMAIN HIGH SPEED TRAIN PROJECT
Client: Saudi Railways Organization
Realized in: 2012 – 2016 (from then updated every 4 years)
Detailed Project Description
The price policy to be applied will depend on the market study performed. In principle, the railway
competence is intermodal, where distribution of the share in modes is determined by aspects such
as time of travel or motivation, without substantial variation of the situation of the share due to
price policy.
The main objective is to propose different fares that allow accessibility to the High Speed service for
all population
This situation may vary in the following years, when interoperativity between different railway lines
exists, with coexistence of different operators. On this environment, a dynamic price system could
optimize income. Such dynamic price systems (Yield Management) are based on complex
mathematic models intended for income optimization. Such systems work practically in real time,
analyzing the offer available, forecasts of demands based on historical series and competence.
These systems will be justified in highly competitive markets, demanding an adequate price policy
for every situation of the demand, taking into account actions of the competence.
It is necessary to highlight that dynamic prices must not be associated to a low price policy, but to
maximum prices accepted by the market in every moment
Type of services provided
The main work objectives are shown below:
1. Define and prioritize fare policy goals
2. Evaluate fare systems options
3. Develop fare structure alternatives
4. Estimate service impacts
5. Evaluate alternative fare structures
6. Select fare system and structure
