1. CATEGORY MANAGEMENT/ MANEJO DE CATEGORIAS Gestión Comercial Mercadeo y Publicidad Docente: Esp. Viviana A. Aguirre Valencia
2. DEFINICIÓN Aparece como una evolución, ante la necesidad de facilitar la compra al consumidor y provocarle que adquiera más productos en el mismo establecimiento. Se inicia en Estados Unidos, en 1990. Nace de la revolución de Wall Mart. ¿Qué es? Gestiona una categoría de productos como una unidad de negocios. Categoría:….. Conjunto de productos relacionados entre sí desde la visión del consumidor.
3. OBJETIVOS DEL CATEGORY MANAGEMENT Analizar y conocer toda la información. Establecer las estrategias adecuadas para conseguir las ventas. La rentabilidad de la categoría. Category Manager: Es el responsable de una categoría. Desarrolla una estrategia Implanta planes Evalúa y rectifica Es responsable de los resultados
4. DESARROLLO DEL CATEGORY MANAGEMENT Revisión de la categoría, con la visión del consumidor. Definir bien el target group. Considerar diferencias entre los distintos puntos de venta de la cadena. Planificar el merchandising. Analizar las rentabilidades. Definir conjuntamente la estrategia de la categoría. Implementarla. Evaluar los resultados por categorías.

6. Resultados de la implementación Una vez se implementa la gestión por categorías, los beneficios son: Las estrategias están enfocadas a lo que el consumidor quiere. Mejora el conocimiento mutuo de fabricantes y distribuidores. Mejora la rotación. Se rentabilizan mejor los lineales y los espacios. Baja el stock: Cantidad de unidades de productos que se encuentran dentro de un establecimiento. (Lineal + inventario) Mejora el Know-How (saber hacer) de la categoría de productos. Mejora la coordinación interna y externa. Aumentan las ventas y los beneficios.
7. Clasificación de las categorías Dependiendo del CANAL DE DISTRIBUCIÓN, la categoría PUEDE CAMBIAR SU ROL.
10. CONCLUSIONES DEL CATEGORY MANAGEMENT En una situación de Selling-in, es decir, la presión del fabricante sobre el distribuidor: Lo importante es comprar bien para el distribuidor. El detallista sólo vende lo que se le vende. No controla. Y el vendedor le intenta colocar muchos productos. Si se trabaja con categorymanagement, se piensa en: SellingOut, es decir, venta final al consumidor. Precio y servicio. Relación costo-beneficio. El Sellingout marca la diferencia. Se logra la lealtad del consumidor
11. El manejo de categorías se engloba dentro de la tendencia a la colaboración entre marcas y distribución que protagoniza el Trade Marketing. El Category Management o en español (manejo de categorías), es la administración del producto dentro del anaquel, se toman las categorías como grupos de productos para el desarrollo de los mismos (participación, rotación, etc.) y en la mayoría de los casos es manejada dentro del departamento de Trade Marketing.
12. Macromarketing y micromarketing El ambiente propio del manejo de categorías, permite diferenciar y aprovechar el macro y el micro marketing.
