El documento describe la implementación de un sistema de vigilancia de infecciones nosocomiales en la unidad neonatal del Hospital de Cruces. Se formó un equipo multidisciplinario que seleccionó un sistema de vigilancia, tradujo los instrumentos de recolección de datos e implementó la vigilancia en la unidad neonatal. Los resultados preliminares muestran las tasas de infección y uso de dispositivos entre enero y octubre de 2010. El sistema demostró ser útil y su experiencia podría servir de referencia para otras unidades neonatales.

20. Future perspective
• The Surveillance system is easy to set in a
Neonatal Unit.
• The system has shown an infection rate
reduction.
• This pilot experience could be a reference for
other Neonatal Units.
• The surveillance system will allow to evaluate
future interventions in NICU’s to prevent
nosocomial infections.
