3. Dear Parents,
Welcome to the West Noble Primary Reading Fair! It is going to be very exciting! The
goal of the Reading Fair is to give our students a chance to share one of their favorite
books with the rest of the school in a creative way. We are asking that each child choose
a fiction or a non-fiction book on his/her reading level. Let your child choose a book that
he/she is excited about reading. This is to be a fun learning experience which will allow
students to show off what they have learned about the different parts of a book review.
All projects must be turned in by Thursday, April 14th, 2016.
There are some guidelines for your child to follow when doing the project.
• The project will be done on a tri-fold board. You may choose to purchase your board
from Wal-Mart or from the school for $2.00.
• The book chosen by the student should be on their reading level, and should be
included in the display.
• There are eight elements that must be displayed on the fiction storyboard, and 6
elements that must be displayed on the non-fiction storyboard. The elements should
be clearly labeled on the board. Items on the board my be handwritten or computer
printed.
• Each board should be colorful and interesting. Related items, props and illustrations
that fit in the middle of the display are allowed. Items that are used for the project are
NOT to be things that are alive, valuable, or dangerous. No extension cords are
allowed.
• Students may hold, or wear items that coordinate with the project, if desired.
• If you are using a book from the WNP Library, we can help you to arrange for the book
to be kept for an extended amount of time, so that you can have it to display with your
board.
• Students may require ASSISTANCE in writing, typing, spelling, cutting, etc. This is
permissible and part of the learning process. Parent involvement is encouraged, but
remember this is your child’s project and most of the work needs to be completed by
your child.
• Put your child’s name on the front of the board.
• Student’s will be responsible for presenting their projects to the judge.
• Projects may be dropped off on Wednesday, April 13th from 2:50-5:30 p.m. or
Thursday morning from 7:00-7:45 a.m.
• The projects will be judged on Thursday, April 14th during the school day.
• Parents are welcome to attend the award program on Friday April 15th at 1:45 in the
first grade extended learning area.
• Projects should be taken home after the award program.
• If you have any questions, please contact Miss Golden (260)894-3191 ext. 4080 or
Mrs. Hicks (260)894-3191 ext. 4085.
There will be 1st ,2nd , and 3rd place winners. The most important goal for the Reading
Fair is that the students enjoy the process, learn from it, and are encouraged to read
more. Participating is just as important as winning.
Thank you,
Miss Golden and Mrs. Hicks
4. Estimados Padres,
Muchas Gracias,
Maestra Golden y Maestra Hicks
