Incluso
mi charla la estoy haciendo muy corta.
38. The prison walls
EVEN enthusiasm must be under control; devotionmust be regulated; there is no meaningin
simply runningbehindand before Mycar.See, what happenedon account of your overenthusiastic
welcome! This meeting, which Raaghavanandothers hadfixedfor six in the
evening, is startingnowat nine! Of course, I was preparedtostayuntil midnight orevenlater if
that wouldhelp. Only, I have to returntoWhitefieldthis night itself. So what happens? Your
restlessness has deprivedyouof Mydarshanfora longer time. I am also makingMy talk very
short.
What a pity!Hadyoubeen quiet anddisciplinedfromthe very beginning, I couldhave spent
more time withyou. This is howman loses the chance that hegets Eachoneof youfelt just a
little inconvenience anddiscomfort andyouarguedabout it andlost your patience over it. Well, I
felt the discomfort andthe discontent of all of you. Still, I am ever readytogive you aanandha;
only, youmust be ever ready toreceiveit fromMe.
(canto devocional), lo sé. No pienso que esté viniendo aquí por primera vez;
The NiranjanaBhajana Mandali is regularly doing bhajana (devotional music by group singing)
here, I know. Do not thinkI am cominghere for thefirst time; I am here, whenever yousingthe
Glory. That is why I have comephysicallytothis place totellyoutocarry onthis
Naamasmarana. Just as thetimes have changedandconditions of livinghavechanged, the
rigours of saadhanahave also to be modified. Doingseverethapas (penance)was a great and
rare achievement in those days; now, repeatingtheNameof the Lordis becomingas difficult a
thapas. Hence, it is saidthat smarana (remembrance)is enough; smaranathat can be done along
with all other activities of living. It is the innerpuritythat matters, not the outermovement of the
lips. Smaranabeingan inner activity helps that innertransformation.
Evoke the divine in you by Naamasmarana
This meetinghas somethingtodo with the DivineLife Society also. Well, humanlife is divine
life. That is the reason, thejustification, the goal ofhuman life.Readingbooks in theSociety
Library is no good; scholarshipreeks with pride; it is eager to win scholasticvictory; it jumps at
any chance to outwit an opponent; it strains after recognitionandhonour. Raavanawas a famous
scholar who hadmasteredthe Vedhas. But that didnot endowhim with character; hefell into the
abyss, nevertheless, it is certainlya wakeful way of spendingprecious time in mere st udy
without any attempt totranslate it intoaction.Youneednot give your wordtoMe now; but tryto
put into practiceat least a fewof thegoodthings that appeal toyouandthat arehelpful in giving
youpeace andcontentment. To evoke theDivine in you, there is no better methodthan
Naamasmarana.
Ahora bien, no
Your Bhajana Mandali is calledNiranjana, after the Niraakaaraswaruupa (Formless
personified) ofthe Brahmathathwa (principle of SupremeReality). Now, there can be no
bhajanaof the Niranjana---the unmanifested, pure, absoluteprinciple. Youcan limit by name
andform that Niranjanathathwa andmake it Saakaara(withFormandattributes) forthe sake of
visualisingit. Then, by slowstages, youwill findthat particularFormenclosingall beings and
therefore assuminga Universal nature. It will gradually drop its boundaries of time andspace
andlike the blueness of Krishna, pervade the sky andsea andbecome a symbol forthe depth of
Eternity.
aplastando. Asóciense siempre con Niranjana --- lo vasto, lo ilimitado, lo divino;
infinitud.
The onlysane manin this madworld
Without surrender, there canbe no liberation. So longas youclingto the narrow"I,"the four
prison walls will close in on you. Cross out the"I"andyouare free. Howto kill the "I?"Place it
at the feet of theLordandsay, "You", not "I"---andyouare free ofthe burden that is crushing
you. Associate always with theNiranjana---the vast, the unlimited, the divine; dream andplan to
merge with the Absolute; fill your ears with the call fromthe beyondandthe boundless.
4. Transcendthe walls, the bars andbolts, the locks andchains. Youcando so easily by fixingyour
mindon your own infinity.
Do not condemnthe mindas a monkey, etc. It is a fine instrument withwhich youcanwin either
liberation orbondage. It all depends onhowyoumanipulateit. It will carry out your orders tothe
minutest detail. It will leadyou, if youso desire, alongthe royal road, right up tothe door of
Realisation. Or it will make youwander about in the blindalleys, where everysteplands youin
dirt.
¡Algunas personas incluso admiran a tales inventores!
algunos tiran piedras, algunos lanzan ofensas. Estos hombres locos se dedican
a lanzar bombas; esta es su locura.
Youshouldhangyour heads in shame when youfindfrom thepapers that humanbeings like you
are today inventingandtestingweapons which can wipe out millions andinjure even coming
generations. But youfeel proudof man's intelligence andcleverness! Some people even admire
such inventors! By all means feel proudof persons who invent somethingwhich will help man to
live happy lives, but use the proper words when youhave to describe those who manufacture
such killers of entirepopulations. Inthe Mental Hospital, youwill findall kinds of madness
affectingman; some spit on others, some bite, some scratch, somethrowstones, some hurl
abuses. These madmenare engagedin hurlingbombs; that is their madness.
ningún cuidado; él no causa problemas.

The worldis full of people who suffer frominsanity, but who are still outside the asylums!
Suddenly, when hatredenvelopes a country, even ordinarysane people go madandbehave like
savages. But in the Mental Hospital, youwill findsometimes one typeof "madman."He sits in a
corner, restingwithout a break, watchingthe pranks andthe wildness of the other inmates. The
doctors will be thankful to him, for heneeds no care; he causes no trouble. His madness maybe
melancholia or hemaybe a jnaani (realisedsoul). The God-boundmanis like that. He is the
only sane man in this madworld.
Whateverhappens toyou, take it as a lesson to hardenyour characterandtoughen your nerves
andheighten your vairaagya(non-attachment). That will give Peace andJoy.

desastre.

Serve the worm as you wouldserve as Master; be humble, be
eager, be efficient in that service. If you dare treat the worm as
your servant, youwill be draggeddown intodisaster.
