"Satyaṁ Śivaṁ Sundaraṁ"
está lleno de significado.
30. Immanentin you
Youhave heardfour people speakingnowon the magazine, 'SanaathanaSaarathi' andthevalue
derivedfrom it by readers.I knowthat youhavebeen squattingfor an hour or so andyouwill
come again for longer sessions lair in the day which will continue thewhole night.Let Me tell
youthat farfrom sympathisingwith you, I commendyour endurance, for such hardships make
your lives worthwhile.Tocall it a hardshipis a sign of delusion andignorance of values. Just
nowthe entire countryis under the shadowof a fear, the fear of Ashtagrahakoota---theconjoint
effect of eight planets that converge in one line for some short time. Inordertowardoff the evil,
persons who haveso far never spent a pie oncharityare spendinglavishly for yajnas, puujas and
the propitiation ofplanetarypowers. So far, so good; let somemoneyflowfrom one pocket to
another which is more needy. Let money circulate.
2. repentino. Purifica tu corazón, tus pensamientos, los sentimientos, las emociones, el habla;
fortalece tus más nobles impulsos; entonces, sin el pánico podrás anular los nervios en ti;
nada podrá agitar tu estabilidad, tu Praśānti (paz interior).
Let the spirit ofcharitygrow, evenout ofpanic. But calamity, danger, deathcannot be avoided
for all time; theyare inevitable factors of life; youhavetolearntolive bravely withthem. This
can be accomplishedonly by uninterruptedprayer, not by spurts of worshipactuatedby sudden
fear. Purify your hearts, your thoughts, feelings, emotions, speech; strengthenyour nobler
impulses; then, nopanic canun-nerve you; nothingcan shake yourstability, your prashaanthi
(inner peace).
Lord's leela toreveal the nature ofbhakthi
Your prayers will be heardandanswered; the Lordhas no distinctionof bigor small, of high or
low. There was in Bengal a bhaktha namedMaadhavadhaasa, who realisedwhen his wife died,
that he hadlost his griha (home), forhis grihalakshmi (wife) hadpassedaway; so he gave all his
riches to the poor, donneda gerua(yellow) robe andwanderedalone as a pilgrim to the
Jagannaatha Shrine. There he didsuch deep penance that the concrete image soonbecame the
Abstract Reality andtheAbstract Reality became a Perpetual Vision. He lost all sense of time
andspace, of Chith andA chith (awareness andignorance). Thenthe Lord, with Subhadra, His
Shakthi-aspect,movedtowards him andplacedbeforehim thegoldplateusedby the priests to
keep foodin front ofJagannaatha in the sanctum sanctorum. WhenMaadhavadhaasa awoke to
his gross surroundings, he sawthe goldplate with the pileof delicious fooduponit; he ate his fill
andreturnedto his innerparadise which he hadleft fora while.
3. Meanwhile, theplate was reportedlost, assumedtobe stolen, anddiscoveredby the seashore
near Maadhavadhaasa, who was promptlyarrested andledto the lock-upby some very efficient
policemen. He was beaten mercilesslybut didnot seem to mindit a bit. The chiefpriest
that night hada dream in which Jagannaatha askedhimnot tobringfoodfor the Lordagain into
the shrine,for: "YoubringfoodforMe, andwhen I eat it,youstart beatingMe!"Then he
realisedthat it was all the Lord's Leela to demonstratethe devotionof Maadhavadhaasa and
teach others the real nature of bhakthi.
Some scholars and Pandiths of Puri didnot feel happy at this sudden rise to fame of a stranger
from Bengal; so they calledMaadhavadhaasa intotheir midst andchallengedhimtoan
intellectual duel. Maadhavadhaasa was not a Pandith ofthat type: he hadlearnt theShaasthras
only as a staff to help himwalk, as a guide to action; not as a stick tobeat others with. So he
accepteddefeat evenbefore thebout began andsigneda statement to that effect, which the
leadingPandith was only toogladto accept because Maadhavadhaasa hada reputationfor
scholarship whichwas really frightening.
incluso a Mādhavadāsa.
The Lord will notallowa devoteeto be harmed
The Pandithhurriedto Khaasi withthat tokenof victory; he wavedit before a gatheringof
scholars anddemandedthat theyshouldall pay himhomage as superior even to
Maadhavadhaasa. But the Lordwill not allowHis bhakthato be humiliated. When thesigned
statement was openedand read, theywere all amazedtofindthat it was a statement declaring
that it was Maadhavadhaasa who hadachievedvictory andit was the Pandith who hadsigned
underneathacknowledginghis own defeat! The Lordwill not be silent whenthe bhakthais
insultedor harmed.
4. But, remember, thewordis bhaktha.Well, who is a bhakthaandhowcan youclaimthe
privileges of that position? Unless youhaveunshakable faith, youdo not deservethat name. If
youare rootedin that faith, success is yours, without a doubt But do not think that I am angryor
displeasedwith youon that account. This evening, the Lingodhbhava(emergence ofegg-shaped
stone of Shiva) is My Duty, Myresponsibility, rather My Naturewhich must reveal itselfonthis
holy day.
(devotos).
I gave Kasthuri andThirumalacharshawls andblessedthem at thebeginningof this meeting
since they wrote MyLife in English andThelugu: the bookcalled "Sathyam Shivam Sundaram."
Some of youmight have wonderedwhy I likedthe publicationof this bookonMy Life. Well, I
like the production ofall kinds of things andso, why shouldI not like this? I respondedtothe
prayers of devotees andallowedthem towrite it. "Ramayathi ithi Raama"---He who pleases is
Raama. The joyofthe bhakthasatisfies the Lord; the joyof the Lord is therewardof the
bhaktha.
Truth is the basic realityof you all
The title, "Sathyam Shivam Sundaram"is full of meaning. It speaks ofMe as immanent in every
one of you, remember. Sathyam (Truth) is thebasic reality ofyouall; that is why youresent
beingcalled a liar. The real "you" is innocent; he will not accept animputationthat is false. The
real "you" is Shivam--joy, happiness,auspiciousness---but not shavam (corpse). It is Shubham
(beautiful), Nithyam (permanent), Aanandham (bliss). Howthen canyoubear beingcalled
otherwise? Thereal "you" is Beauty, andso youresent beingcalledugly. The aathma has got
entangledin the body which it does not like; it is weigheddown by shame when youidentifyit
with the body andattribute toit theweaknesses anddeficiencies of that physical vehicle.
Prashanti Nilayam, 03/04/1962
The 'SanaathanaSaarathi' is the result ofMy Sankalpa(resolve). My Uthsaaha (venture), My
Aanandha (bliss). Nothingcan standin the way once I have decidedon anystep. Whenthe
Paramaathmathathwa (principleof SupremeSoul) assumes human form andappears, not with
Mahaa-shakthi andMahaa-swaruupa(SupremePower andFormof theSupreme),but with
Maaya-shakthi andMaaya-swaruupa(Power ofillusion andForm ofillusion), it is difficult to
comprehendit, especiallywhen youare in an uncertain vacillatingmood. Once youunderstand
the purposeandtheprocedure,all doubts will cease.

Sathya Sai Baba
Prema is the characteristic of the Lord; thelove that youbear to
yourself is itself the love that is the nature of the Aathma, whichis
the Lord. That is why I place all emphasis on Prema,in its various
forms of affection, filial piety brotherhood, fraternalism,
philanthropy, etc My Message, My Mission is Prema,Prema,
Prema; nothingelse. That is the substance, remember, of the
Vedhas and of Dharma. When that fills the heart, all fear andall
vice will vanish.
