El nivel de ingreso define la estructura de consumo. En los Estados Unidos o en Chile, el gasto en alimentos es mucho menor en términos relativo que en la región,
debido a que su capacidad de compra es lo suficiente para poder comparar mejor otros bienes, pero al comparar Colombia con Chile, la diferencia salta a la vista.
