No queremos pagar!

Gracias!
Let’s step back for a moment - in time – and recall the buying journey way before the digital age was upon us.
No internet, No Apple Pay, No NFC – just cash and checks and at some point plastic was introduced
You have Mary Jane, the housewife, aged 18-49, who was the target for most marketers selling packaged goods, likely at the local supermarket.
It was Procter & Gamble who can be credited with creating the first moment of truth - -what is known as FMOT
FMOT occurs when the housewife is standing in front of the set of products on the shelf and decides at that moment to put a jar of peanut butter into their basket.
Do they put JIFF or SKIPPY or the store brand???
What were the factors that were being considered at that moment? The price, The packaging, The Ingedients, The Placement on the Shelf, The recall of the Brand advertising???
Could be any one of these factors – and P&G spent millions trying to perfect their model – playing with sales promotions, all the “4Ps” of marketing that could ensure that the housewife did indeed put that can of JIFF PB into heir basket.
But P&G didn’t leave it at that
There marketing objective wasn’t done once Mary Jane bought the product.
It wasn’t until they got the product home and experienced the product – did the moment of truth paradigm end.
For this second moment of truth – the SMOT – was coined to ensure that they did everything to maximize the enjoyment of the product. The taste, the product’s effectiveness, it usability and ease of use – all of the experiential part of the consumption/usage of the product were considered here….
Then something big happens in the 1990s and the turn of the century –
It’s the internet – and consumers now have more access to information, more channels to buy from, more options to consider alternatives
In many ways – the cosnumer buying journey took one step backward – but two big steps forward -- in the ability to ”google” something before they even left the house.
The idea here of course is that it’s become now so routine to search the Internet, read reviews, look at comparison shopping sites – that we take it for granted.
To capture the importance of this new part of the consumer buying journey – Google came up with yet a new MOT in the series – they called it the ZMOT – or Zero Moment of Turth.
Makes a lot of sense for them to do so – there business model is based on selling more adwords – and the more marketers recognized this part of the buying journey – the more they might invest in buying more keywords.
They didn’t stop at this – because the UMOT – or ultimate moment of truth was founded as a result to drive consumer advocacy and leverage free advertising of consumers, bloggers and VIP influencers who would rate their experiences online, share with their friends and colleagues – which would ulltimately lead to ne next person’s ZMOT - because now this free advertisement or review was now discoverable to the next person.
Thus creating a virtuous cycle.
We’ve entered the Fourth Industrial Revolution
Stat 1
Stat 2
Stat 3 from WEF book on Fourth Industrial Revlution
Full industries are being disrupted -- Music industry, Hotel Industry by AirBNB, Taxi/transportation by Uber
Consumers have even more access to information
To bring down countries
To bring down companies
To raise the power of celebrities and influencers
This continues to evolve the buying journey – and provides new more innovative ways to make transactions
Via smart phone
New mobile wallets
Even cryptocurrencies like bitcoin
This is all leading to new considerations for merchants selling online or via mobile apps – and the RISE OF THE TRANSANCTION ENGAGEMENT.
Notes from our last call (talking points): Tech and digital disruption has changed all of this stuff. Until now, we weren’t able to consider PMOT. salesforce.com – extra info about technology factorsmobile, smartwatch, buy buttons. Because of the way technology…(I lost your train of thought here)
The new buying journey is no longer a loop – it’s messier and much more complex
But new technologies are now available to do things that we’ve never been able to do before
Retargeting our online advertising – via cookies on anonymous browsers to our website that offer then opportunities to come back!
Digital Marketing Networks – that provide new means of augmenting data to our profiles
Geofencing technoloigies that allow us to target consumers at specific locations like hotels or bus stops
Touchless screens with NFC enabled chips…
The list is enlist….
But what’s MISSING is a Moment of Truth that takes into account the impact of technology on the actual TRANSACTION. (THIS IS WHERE THERE CAN BE ANIMATION AT THE PMOT in the slide)
*************************************************
I would like to have people see how it all fits together at the macro view and talk about the full customer journey, but in relation to what’s new in the world that we live in..
We need a Payment MOMENT OF TRUTH that will support merchants and marketers need to address both the opportunities and challenges that technology has created….
At Ingenico - we are defining the PMOT as the moment in time when the transaction engagement occurs and there is mutual value-exchange between a buyer and a seller.
It is important to note that the PMOT is not a single point in time -- but the duration between ”clicking the buy button” and ”completing the transaction.
There are many points of failure between these two points in time – and PMOT takes all of these into consideration.
