1. OPERACIÓN CON FUNCIONES
Consideremos dos funciones reales de variable real, f,g: R → R si Df ∩ Dg ≠ 𝜑
Entonces:
a) IGUALDAD DE FUNCIONES
Diremos que las funciones f y g son iguales si solo si
i) Df = Dg
ii) f(x) = g(x) ∀ x ∈ Df = Dg
Ejemplo: Las funciones f(x) = 𝑥3
− 1 , g(x) = 𝑥3
− 1
Son iguales porque Df = Dg = R y f(x) = g(x)
Ejemplo: Las funciones f(x) = √( 𝑥 − 1)( 𝑥 − 6) y g(x) = √( 𝑥 − 1) √( 𝑥 − 6)
no son iguales puesto que Df = < −∞, 1] ∪ [6, +∞ >
donde Df ≠ Dg
Ejemplo: Las funciones f(x) = 2𝑥2
− 7𝑥 , x ∈ < 0,5] y g(x) = 2𝑥2
− 7𝑥
x ∈ [1,9] son iguales a pesar de tener la misma regla de
correspondencia debido a que sus dominios no coinciden.
b) SUMA DE FUNCIONES
Teniendo en cuenta que una funcione está definida cuando se indica su
dominio y su regla de correspondencia.
Definición: Si f y g son dos funciones con Dominio Df y Dg
respectivamente, entonces a la suma de f y g denotado por f + g se define:
i) Df+g = Df ∩ Dg
ii) (f + g)(x) = f(x) + g(x) , ∀ x ∈ Df ∩ Dg
Ejemplo: Hallar f + g si: f = {(−1,2); (0,0);(2,4);(3,−1); (4,3)}
g = {(2,0);(3,4);(4,7);(6,2)}
