DEFINICI ´ON
Si una funci´on f tiene la propiedad f(tx, ty) = tαf(x, y) para alg´un n´umero
real a, entonces se dice que es una funci´on homog´enea de grado α.
EJEMPLOS
1 f(x, y) = x2 + y2 es una ecuaci´on homog´enea ya que:
f(tx, ty) = (tx)2 + (ty)2
f(tx, ty) = t2x2 + t2y2
f(tx, ty) = t2(x2 + y2)
f(tx, ty) = t2f(x, y)
t2 indica que es una ecuaci´on
homog´enea de grado 2.
2 f(x, y) = x3 + y3 + 1 No es una ecuaci´on homog´enea.

ECUACIONES DIFERENCIALES HOMOG ´ENEAS
Una ED de primer orden en forma diferencial:
M(x, y)dx + N(x, y)dy = 0
Se dice que es homog´enea si ambas funciones coeficientes M y N son
ecuaciones homog´eneas del mismo grado, es decir:
M(tx, ty) = tαM(x, y) y N(tx, ty) = tαN(x, y)
EJEMPLOS
1 (x2 + y2)dx + (x2 − xy)dy = 0 Es una ED homog´enea

M´ETODO DE SOLUCI ´ON
Para solucionar este tipo de ED, las sustituciones:
y = ux o x = vy
y sus respectivas derivadas:
dy = xdu + udx o dx = ydv + vdy
donde u y v son las nuevas variables dependientes.
Permiten reducir una ecuaci´on homog´enea a una ecuaci´on diferencial de
primer orden separable.

EJEMPLO
1 Solucionar la ED (x2 − 2y2)dy − (xy)dx = 0
Sustituyendo x = yv y su derivada dx = ydv + vdy en la ED:
[(yv)2 − 2y2]dy − [(yv)y](ydv + vdy) = 0
Se obtiene la ecuaci´on de variables separables: −2y2dy − y3vdv = 0
Con soluci´on: −2ln|y| =
